| Population is a solid foundation for steady social and economic development. As a country with a large population, the current population size and population structure are the key factors to determine China’s future development.Young people are the backbone of China’s fertility, their procreation desire has an important influence on their future procreation behavior. Therefore, understanding the influencing factors of young people’s reproductive intention is a prerequisite for standardizing and guiding young people’s fertility and ensuring social stability and orderly development. As an important environment for youth growth and socialization, family plays an important role in the formation of youth values. As the first place for youth to recognize marriage and childbirth, family lays the foundation in the shaping process of youth childbearing will. This study mainly discusses the influence of original family structure and family intergenerational relationship on the fertility desire of young people.Based on the theory of cultural inheritance, this paper puts forward the research hypothesis and uses the interpretive sequence design in the hybrid research method to study and analyze. In the quantitative part, nested regression model and multiple logistic model were used to analyze the 2018 data of CFPS.In the qualitative part,13 young people were interviewed according to their different marital status and gender status.Based on the quantitative results and interview materials,it is concluded that the birth family structure, maternal fertility concept and living distance have significant effects on the fertility desire of young people.Specifically: first, people who are the only child in their family tend to have fewer children than who are not.Second, the only child has the male preference, and this preference is more obvious in the male one who are the only child.Third, the positive prediction of the young people’s fertility desire by their mothers’ fertility concept.Forth, intergenerational closeness in the family inhibits the number of children that young people expect.Fifth, the absence of the father in the influence of the young people’s fertility will.Based on the above conclusions,a qualitative study is carried out to enrich the explanatory power of the above conclusions.Through interviews,we know that a large part of the intergenerational convergence of family structure is due to economic factors, especially the expected cost of providing for parents is higher. The male preference of the people who are the only child in their family can be determined from the role of themselves. On this basis, the cognition of family function, the satisfaction of traditional concept within the family and the realistic advantage of the male in the whole society are formed. The positive influence of mother’s conception on children mainly results from the mode and effect of mother’s conception transmission, children’s understanding and self-adjustment,capital dependence on family and so on.The inhibitory effect of the residential distance can be explained from the perspective of the concept transfer and ambivalence of the mother as the experiencer. Finally, the absence of the father is a common phenomenon presented by the joint action of a series of factors, including family emotion expression, family division of labor, rationality of social expectation. Therefore,to correctly regulate and guide the fertility desire of young people,we should not only focus on the factors at the individual level, but also introduce encouraging policies at the macro level,in order to ensure the rights and quality of services of the subject of procreation without harming other interest groups.More attention should be paid to the role of the family, especially parents,in the procreation wishes of young people.Starting from the individual family, find a comprehensive program that promote the improvement of the overall population structure and balanced, coordinated development of society. |
