| Humans mainly rely on vision to obtain information.With the prolonged use of the display,people pay more and more attention to display performance and the impact of the display on the visual health.Existing display technologies are designed based on the characteristics of cone cells.At the beginning of this century,a new type of photoreceptor cell,ipRGC,was discovered,which is involved in the process of visual information transmission,but its influence on visual information processing and visual perception is still unclear.It is of great significance for the development of image processing technology and image display quality to evaluate the influence of ipRGC on the visual effects of images.The effects of ipRGC illuminance on pupillary light response,image visual effects and comfort were explored with both subjective evaluation and objective measurement,including questionnaires,cerebral cortical hemodynamic responses,psychomotor vigilance task,eye movement signals and physiological signals.The research included the following three aspects.Firstly,built a multi-primary color display system that can independently control the ipRGC illuminance,and modulated the experimental images of different ipRGC illuminance.Based on the multi-primary color display system,as well as the principle of the silent substitution method,the spectrum of the experimental images were optimized by the least square method,then the metameric images with the same luminance and chromaticity coordinates were produced.Each group of images had different ipRGC illuminance,and the Michelson contrast range was about 12%~41%,the Michelson contrast of the three cones’illuminance was controlled at about 5%,and the luminance of images was about 50cd/m~2.Secondly,investigated the effect of displayed images’ipRGC illuminance on pupillary light response.The results showed that displayed images’ipRGC illuminance had a significant effect on the maximal contraction and recovery of the pupillary light response.During the maximal contraction,increasing the ipRGC illuminance promoted pupil constriction and brightness perception.While during the recovery,increasing the ipRGC illuminance slowed down pupil recovery after the image was removed.Finally,discussed the effect of displayed images’ipRGC illuminance on visual effects and comfort.The subjective evaluation and objective measurement results showed that,on the one hand,increasing the ipRGC illuminance improved the perceived brightness.On the other hand,ipRGC was beneficial to reduce the visual discomfort caused by viewing images.Furthermore,increasing the ipRGC illuminance was conducive to enhancing alertness and image information recognition capabilities. |
