With the implementation of the new curriculum reform and the continuous development of information technology in education,multimedia tools have become more common in the classroom,and how to make good use of modern information technology to improve and enhance teaching effectiveness in the classroom has become a concern for primary and secondary teachers.With the popularization of the "Internet +",the introduction of short videos into the classroom is an important way to realize the modernization of education.Geography is comprehensive,regional,spatial-temporal,open and so on,which requires rich and diverse teaching resources.As a concise and efficient teaching means,"short video + education" mode,with rich sources and extensive content,will play an increasingly significant role in promoting the cultivation of core Geographical Literacy for Students.Based on the summary of the former research results,this paper discusses how to apply geography short video in high school geography teaching,so as to achieve the goal of improving students’ core literacy.Based on the present situation and existent question in the course of video instruction,this article analyses and studies the curriculum standards and high school geography textbooks,analyzes and integrates the application value,selection principle,classification selection and production of short geography teaching videos,and summarizes the ways that can be used in different classroom teaching links of short geography videos,and the application strategies of different types of short geography videos in middle school geography teaching.This paper also puts forward some problems that need to be considered in the application of short video,explores the educational value of short video in geography,and expands the depth and breadth of the development of geography curriculum resources.In order to adapt to the needs of teaching practice,based on the Secondary Geographical Curriculum Standards,taking the Optional Compulsory Course 1 of Hunan Education Edition as an example,relevant teaching design is made for teaching content,and short geography videos that can be used for teaching are collected,arranged and edited with existing resources.A chapter was taken as an example to carry out an empirical study on geography teaching in high school.Compared with the conventional teaching model,the experiment class uses the short video assistant method,and students’ grades and classroom performance before and after were compared.Through research,it is found that short video teaching has the advantages of intense intuition,easily arousing the interest of the pupils,arousing students’ enthusiasm in class,improving the efficiency of classroom teaching and so on.Besides,short video assisted teaching can help students better understand the important and difficult points of teaching,error-prone points,easy to mix points,and help students to summarize and refine the knowledge structure,so as to significantly improve the teaching effect.But generally speaking,there are many shortcomings in short video.For example,it is not suitable for application,and it is easily out of the way of teaching;In the teaching process,it is difficult to reasonably grasp the classroom teaching time.Students easily appear immersion,and they can also easily get addicted to short videos.Considering the above-mentioned issues and constraints,this paper puts forward corresponding countermeasures: as teachers,they should strive to improve their professional literacy,disciplinary literacy and information literacy,so as to better control these new teaching methods.As students,they need to cultivate their own subjective initiative and use short videos to improve their core literacy.This study aims to assist teachers to make reasonable use of short video assisted teaching,so as to improve students’ core literacy,develop more short video resources and short video application means suitable for various teaching situations and modes,advocate the adoption of diversified teaching methods.Therefore,it will help the students to better comprehend and master their own knowledge in order to meet the demands of the new course reform.
