Competing For Rankings Between Fans Under The Perspective Of Social Conflict

The rapid development of information technology has enhanced the communication and connection between people,so that people from all over the world can find people with similar interests in the online community and form various interest groups,and fan group is one of them.In recent years,the conflicts between fan groups have continued,and the behavior of competing for rankings between fans has occurred frequently.The network language violence caused by the behavior of competing for rankings between fans has seriously polluted the Internet environment.At present,the academic research on fan conflict is mostly based on the governance position,taking the harm caused by fan conflict to society as the starting point to carry out countermeasure research,and ignoring the possible significance of fan conflict.Therefore,based on the analysis of the causes of the behavior of competing for rankings between fans,this study also explores the positive function of fan conflict on fan groups from the perspective of Lewis A.Coser ’s social conflict theory,in order to deepen the understanding of fan groups,so as to correctly guide the power of fans and promote the construction of clean network environment.In order to study the causes and effects of the behavior of competing for rankings between fans,this paper selects “Qing Zanxing Incident” as a case,and collects relevant comments on the social media platform,and also conducts in-depth interviews with witnesses.The study found that the behavior of competing for rankings between fans has the characteristics of both realistic conflicts and non-realistic conflicts.In the process of conflict,fans not only expressed their demands to safeguard the interests of idols and compete for the right to speak,but also released the hostility of external groups and the anger of group beliefs challenged.The causes of the behavior of competing for rankings between fans can be explained from both internal and external aspects.Fans’ self-worship psychology and recognition of rankings’ value are the root causes of conflict behavior.The irrational mobilization of fan groups’ leaders,outgroup prejudice and group pressure make individual behavior smoothly evolve into collective action.In addition,the relaxed network environment and the incitement of external forces have also contributed to the occurrence of conflict.Regarding the influence of the behavior of competing for rankings between fans,it is undeniable that it does cause many harms,but it also has certain positive significance to fan groups.The behavior of competing for rankings between fans can consolidate the relationship between members,enhance the individual ’s sense of dependence on the group,and promote the self-purification of the group,so that the group can achieve the effect of maintaining the group boundary.In addition,in the conflict,the identity of group members is strengthened,and the ability of acting uniformly is also improved.Finally,the author puts forward some suggestions from the four levels of fans,idols,internet platforms and government,hoping that fan activities can move from disorder to order,which is conducive to the healthy development of fan culture while benefiting the society.
