With the continuous deepening of basic education reform and the changes in the policies of physical education examinations,the status of physical education curriculum in school education has been steadily rising.However,the reality indicates a downward trend in students’ physical health and fitness levels,as well as a decline in their interest in physical education.Basketball is one of the mandatory skill-based elective subjects in the physical education examination for junior high school students.However,currently,many junior high school teachers employ a didactic teaching approach combined with monotonous and repetitive exercises,resulting in an unsatisfactory classroom atmosphere and teaching quality in basketball classes.This study aims to explore the application effects of the TGT teaching method in junior high school physical education basketball teaching.By conducting a two-month teaching experiment with students from Class 5 and Class 20 of Yuhuan City Chengguan No.1Middle School,we tested four aspects: students’ level of interest in physical education,emotional expression and cooperative ability,physical fitness,and basketball skill level.Furthermore,we compared the impacts of the TGT teaching method and traditional teaching method on these aspects.The research findings reveal that the TGT teaching method has a more significant effect on enhancing students’ level of interest in physical education compared to the traditional teaching method.Additionally,students in the experimental class demonstrated better emotional expression and cooperative spirit under the influence of the TGT teaching method.Although both the TGT teaching method and the traditional teaching method can improve students’ physical fitness,the TGT teaching method showed a superior effect only in the long jump aspect.Regarding the improvement of students’ basketball skill level,there was a significant difference between the TGT teaching method and the traditional teaching method.Students in the experimental class performed better in basketball skills compared to those in the control class,with a greater degree of progress.These results indicate that the TGT teaching method is applicable to junior high school physical education basketball teaching and has a noticeable effect on enhancing students’ interest in physical education and their basketball skill level.In conclusion,the results of this study demonstrate the positive application effects of the TGT teaching method in junior high school physical education basketball teaching.By stimulating students’ interest in learning and promoting their active participation,the TGT teaching method contributes to improving students’ level of interest in physical education,emotional expression and cooperative ability,as well as basketball skill level.These findings have significant implications for promoting physical education reform,improving the classroom atmosphere in physical education,and enhancing the quality of physical education teaching.
