PIRLS is a reading literacy assessment organized by the International Energy Organization(IEA)for 9-10-year-old students around the world.PIRLS evaluation system consists of two parts,one is reading literacy test,the other is questionnaire,covering four dimensions of family,school,teachers and students.The purpose of this study is to explore the factors influencing primary school students’ reading literacy,and to provide important reference for countries participating in the evaluation to cultivate and improve students’ reading literacy.To a certain extent,our country ignores that reading literacy is the result of many factors,such as the characteristics and attitudes of society,family,school and students.In a narrow sense,it thinks that the responsibility of cultivating primary school students’ reading literacy mainly lies in Chinese classroom teaching,thus separating the integrity of primary school students’ reading learning activities.Therefore,it is necessary to study the factors that affect reading literacy.This paper mainly includes the following parts:The first part is the introduction.This part is based on the research background of PIRLS primary school reading literacy influencing factors,puts forward the researc hproblems,defines the core concepts,analyzes the research status,determines the research ideas and methods,and expounds the research significance.The second part is an overview of PIRLS.This part elaborates the pirls evaluation theory,evaluation system,evaluation methods and the source and development of evaluation tools.According to the evaluation results of reading questions and four questionnaires,the factors affecting primary school students’ reading literacy are preliminarily defined.The third part is an empirical study based on pirls background evaluation.The first part introduces the research design in detail,including questionnaire structure,survey tools and methods,research objects,survey process and data collection.The other part is empirical research.Based on the data collected by the questionnaire,the reliability of the questionnaire was analyzed first,and then the SPSS software was used for correlation analysis.On the one hand,it evaluates the reading performance of the fourth grade primary school students in Xuzhou,on the other hand,it studies the relat ionship between the reading literacy of primary school students and the influencing factors,and draws the final conclusion.The fourth part is the evaluation conclusions and suggestions.According to the analysis of the evaluation results,we can draw the conclusion from five aspects:the overall performance of students’ reading,students’ reading attitude and behavior,family reading atmosphere,reading teaching quality and school reading environment,and putforward four suggestions for parents,teachers,schools and government departments.The fifth part is the enlightenment to the cultivation of primary school reading literacy.According to the survey results,suggestions and strategies are put forward:to establish and improve reading laws and regulations,and create a social reading atmosphere;Pay attention to family reading education and actively carry out reading activities;Create campus reading culture and create a harmonious Scholarly Campus;We should innovate the traditional teaching mode and attach importance to the teaching of reading strategies;Stimulate students’ reading motivation and cultivate good reading habits. |
