With the continuous improvement of teaching and learning conditions and the improvement of teachers’ educational standards, the teaching of physics courses has become more diversified. However, the teaching of exercises, which is an important part of the secondary school physics teaching process often fails to raise students’ interest and enthusiasm for learning. Therefore, exploring the establishment of effective motivational approaches in teaching physics exercises to stimulate students’ motivation has a profound impact on enhancing the effectiveness of teaching physics exercises. This study focuses on research on the teaching of physics exercises in the classroom. It focuses on introducing the ARCS(Attention,Relevance,Confidence and Satisfaction)model of motivation into physics exercises lessons and analysing the impact of students’ motivation on the effectiveness of physics exercises lessons. From the perspective of students’ learning motivation,a new teaching model of teaching physics exercises based on the ARCS model is proposed, and teaching practices and teaching summaries are carried out.The thesis research covers the following aspects.Firstly, the previous research results and teaching application status of the ARCS motivation model integrated into physics teaching and high school physics exercises teaching are reviewed, their research and application effectiveness are summarised, problems and reasons are analysed, and a theoretical foundation is laid for the smooth conduct of subsequent research.Secondly, after performing the investigation of learning motivation in physics exercises classes,we explore the teaching strategy of senior high school physics exercises based on the ARCS model. In order to deeply explore the influencing factors of students’ learning motivation in physics exercise class, questionnaire survey is adopted to study students’ learning motivation in exercise teaching. The testing indicates that the questionnaire developed is scientific, which fills the gap of learning motivation detection in physics exercise teaching and providing support for further analysis and research.Finally,464 questionnaires were collected and analyzed to summarize the learning motivation problems of students in physics exercises.Based on this result, the corresponding motivation strategies related to the four dimensions were designed.Taking the teaching case "Conveyer belt model exercise teaching design" as an example, the specific application of incentive strategy in teaching design was expounded.Third, the application practices for high school physics exercises teaching model based on the ARCS model were carry out and were well summary. In order to verify the effect of this teaching mode, two parallel classes in grade one of a Level 2 Attainment school were selected as objects to carry out the application practices of physics exercise teaching mode based on ARCS motivation model. Then, questionnaire and paper test were used to objectively measure the four elements of ARCS motivation model as well as the overall motivation level and performance of 98 students. The results showed that students’ performance was generally improved by adopting the new motivational exercise teaching mode, especially for the students in the middle ranked class of the overall grade.Their interest in physics exercises has been significantly improved, thus promoting the improvement of their physical performance. The research shows that the teaching strategy of physics exercises based on ARCS motivation model can stimulate students’ interest in physics exercises, improve the teaching efficiency and more effectively play the role of physics exercises in the cultivation of students’ disciplinary literacy and key abilities. This teaching strategy provides important reference for the teaching and reform of high school physics exercises.
