In the curriculum system in China,comprehensive practical activity is compulsory from primary school to senior high school.According to the General Senior High School Curriculum Plan(2017 edition,revised in 2020),the importance of high-quality comprehensive practical activity is emphasized in school education,highlighting its values of education.However,the comprehensive practical activity has been often ignored and there has been a short of teachers.As a result,there is a lack of high-quality comprehensive practical activity in secondary school,and it is difficult for teachers to design.As a new technology,the Internet of Things(Io T)is getting a lot of attention."Experiencing the Io T" is a recommended theme of comprehensive practical activity in primary and secondary school.Science popularizing of Io T among secondary school students will help broaden their scientific and technological horizons and cognitive fields,and also prepare them for higher and vocational education.However,nowadays,curriculums about Io T are mainly specialized courses in higher and vocational education.There is a lack of curriculums of Io T science popularization for secondary school.Therefore,the thesis is determined to design a comprehensive practical activity curriculum with the theme of "Io T science popularization",so as to fill the gap of Io T science popularization curriculums in secondary school,and also to resolve the problem of lack of effective comprehensive practical activity for teachers’ reference in secondary school.In this thesis,the Big Ideas theory and Reverse Design method are applied to design a comprehensive practical activity curriculum with the theme of Io T science popularization for secondary school with a total of 12 class hours.As one of the curriculum concepts in secondary school,the Big Ideas is still in the preliminary stage in China.The curriculum design of "Io T science popularization" based on Big Ideas includes framework design and activity outline writing.Firstly,based on the analysis of the nature and design principles of Io T science popularization curriculum,four big concepts,six basic questions and three kinds of thinking tools are developed in the curriculum,which includes experiential practice,reflective practice and creative practice.Secondly,the learning objectives of Io T science popularization curriculum are set by using the Reverse Design method,considering the goals of comprehensive practical activity and the core literacy,as well as the three goals of Big Ideas curriculum,and the evaluation methods are designed.Finally,four types of activities,namely preliminary,core,adaptation and synthesis,are carried out in a task group consisting of 16 tasks.Through teaching practice in X high school in F City,the feasibility and rationality of Io T science popularization curriculum are proved by activity evidence collection,teaching reflection,questionnaire survey and so on.The main conclusions are as follows: The Io T science popularization curriculum provides experience for the curriculum design of Io T science popularization.This set of 12 class hours curriculum can be introduced into secondary school.To some extent,the thesis has filled the gap of Io T science popularization curriculum in domestic secondary school.What is more,applying the Big Ideas to the curriculum design of comprehensive practical activity provides a new strategy for the comprehensive practical activity curriculum design in secondary school.The framework of this curriculum and the related tools can be applied to other themes,which effectively enrich the development paradigm of comprehensive practical activity in secondary school and effectively resolve the problem of lack of comprehensive practical activity.
