Problem-solving skills are necessary skills for students to face the challenges of the21 st century.The "General High School Biology Curriculum Standard(2017 Edition2020 Revised Edition)" shows that problem-solving ability is the specific performance of core literacy applied to biology.STSE education is a new educational concept evolved from STS education.It mainly guides students to connect science,technology,society and environment.Through the understanding of the learned scientific knowledge and technology,it can arouse students’ attention to social and environmental issues,so that they can better transfer and apply knowledge in the process of learning,and cultivate students’ problem-solving ability,which is highly compatible with biology teaching in high school.On this basis,this paper discusses the possibility of cultivating high school students’ biological problem-solving ability based on STSE education.This topic uses literature research,questionnaire,educational experiment and other research methods to carry out research.This thesis explores the STSE education and the status quo of the research on problem-solving skill at home and abroad through literature research.Besides,it explores the current situation of STSE education implementation and the students’ problem-solving skill of biology in the practice school through questionnaire and interview.The results show that the STSE education is not applied well to the school education.In addition,the students’ problem-solving skill is at an average level.On this basis,the contents related to the STSE educational concept in "Homeostasis and Regulation",which is a compulsory subject of high school biology in the 2019 version of the People’s Education Edition,are sorted out.Some chapters are selected for teaching design,and the teaching design is applied to practical teaching.The teaching experiment process is mainly based on the classes with similar scores in the second-grade back-to-school test and the same subject selection and teaching teachers as the research objects.The control class uses the traditional teaching method,and the experimental class uses the STSE education for teaching.After three months of teaching experiments,a comparison of the level of problem-solving ability between the two classes before and after the experiment.The practice results are as follows:(1)High school biology teaching based on STSE education can cultivate students’ problem-solving ability.Comparing the problem-solving ability level scores of the control class and the experimental class,it’s found that with the implementation of the educational experiment,the overall level of students’ problem-solving ability in both classes has improved,the overall level of the experimental class has been greatly improved,and the overall level of the control class has been hardly improved,and there were significant difference.It indicates that STSE education can cultivate students’ biological problem-solving ability.The difference test of the three dimensions of problem-solving between the experimental class and the control class found that there were significant differences in the methods,strategies and quality dimensions of problem-solving among the students in the two classes,but there was no significant difference in the dimension of attitude.The reason for the analysis may be that with the approach of the college entrance examination,the attitudes of the students in the experimental class and the control class have increased.The attitude of the students in the experimental class and the control class to face the problem has been strengthened.(2)High school biology teaching based on STSE education can effectively improve students’ biology test scores.With the introduction of the new curriculum standards,the current college entrance examination propositions tend to be more and more infiltrated with STSE content,which coincides with the STSE education concept.Students understand and solve more STSE content in the classroom,which is beneficial to students’ biology test scores.(3)Students support the implementation of STSE education in biology classes.According to interviews with students,STSE education can quickly attracted their attention,promoted their interest in biology classes and improved their scores in biology exams.
