Under the background of the new college entrance examination reform,it is one of the important tasks of geography teaching to promote the development of students’ high-level thinking ability and cultivate students’ core quality.The large unit is the middle-view teaching between class hours and semesters.It conforms to the comprehensive characteristics of the geography subject,and can arrange teaching activities as a whole to cultivate students’ core qualities step by step.By combing the existing achievements of deep learning and large unit teaching,it is found that they are consistent in goal,mutually directed in connotation,and complementary in practice.The use of large units based on deep learning in the teaching of geography can overcome the disadvantages of "fragmented teaching",improve students’ cognitive structure of geography,mobilize students’ interest in geography learning,and promote the formation of core geographical literacy.Therefore,the study of large unit teaching in geography from the perspective of deep learning has important theoretical and practical significance.Understanding the implementation status and existing problems of deep learning-based geography large unit teaching is the necessary basis for carrying out such activities.Based on the support of relevant theories and methods,a questionnaire was compiled,and geography teachers of high school students and high school students were surveyed to understand the status quo of geography large unit teaching based on deep learning.The following problems were found:(1)It is difficult to cultivate higher-order thinking ability in geography large unit teaching.(2)Cultivating the ability of cooperation,communication and reflection regulation is the weakness of geography teaching in large units.(3)Large unit teaching of geography is not attractive to students,and students’ interest needs to be improved.(4)The main roles of teachers and students are misaligned in the large unit teaching of geography,and the frequency of classroom dialogue is low.(5)The research on theories and methods of large unit teaching of geography based on deep learning is relatively lacking.According to the theory of reverse instructional design,this paper proposes that the deep learning-based geography large unit instructional design can be divided into five aspects: preliminary preparation,content integration,goal presetting,evaluation design and main processing,and puts forward the corresponding design strategies.In the early preparation stage,it is necessary to deeply understand the students’ thinking level,knowledge experience,interest preference,psychological state,interpersonal ability and other personality and overall characteristics,so as to lay a solid foundation for the design of more targeted teaching.In the content integration stage,first of all,on the premise of clarifying the logic of geographical knowledge,the big idea,big situation or big project of geography is extracted,the theme of the big unit is determined,and the teaching content is selected.Then delve into the nature of various columns in the textbook,from the shallow to the deep for different teaching content and teaching stage with corresponding learning columns.In the goal presetting stage,according to the deep learning cognitive level theory,the design of cognitive development goals for higher-order thinking;Based on the interpersonal and self-level theories of deep learning,this paper improves the goal system and points out the ultimate literacy goal of large unit teaching.In the design stage of large unit evaluation,the evaluation method combining process and finality is adopted,and the evaluation criteria including cognition,interpersonal and self are designed according to the deep learning theory.In the main processing stage,real geographical situations are created for large units of geography,advanced question chains are designed to promote the growth of students’ thinking,a geography learning community is constructed to exercise students’ cooperation and communication ability,and vivid and modern information technology is used to arouse students’ learning enthusiasm.Based on the deep learning theory and the results of the questionnaire survey,this paper puts forward the implementation strategies of geography large unit teaching in high school:(1)pay attention to the interests and emotions of students in geography large unit,and stimulate the enthusiasm of learning.(2)Adjust the teaching rhythm of large units of geography according to the important and difficult points to deepen knowledge understanding.(3)Adjust students’ psychological state in geography unit and create a good atmosphere.(4)Knowledge connection in large unit teaching of visualization geography to improve cognitive structure.(5)Assign practical assignments to students after large units of geography to strengthen knowledge transfer.Using the geography teaching strategy of large unit based on deep learning,this paper takes Class 1of Grade 2 in a middle school as an example to demonstrate the design idea of large unit "The Road to Economic Development of Jiaozuo".Combining deep learning with large unit teaching,this paper studies the design and implementation strategies of high school geography large unit teaching based on deep learning,and the topic selection is relatively novel.
