Due to the strong theoretical and conceptual problems of the Ideological and political theory course in colleges and universities, the traditional teaching methods are difficult to attract students’ interest in learning, and the phenomenon of students’ inattention in the Ideological and political theory course is becoming more and more serious, and the effectiveness of classroom teaching is thus affected.Research shows that students’ attention in class is closely related to their academic level, therefore, the research on improving students’ attention in Ideological and political theory course is of great value. In the background of the microlecture, short videos have a great influence on the learning style of college students, and short videos can output a large amount of rich and diverse contents within a few minutes at a light pace, which makes it easier for college students to get a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in the process of learning,so they are loved by college students, and students’ concentration in the process of short video learning is The concentration of students in the process of short video learning is quite high.In this context, the learning method of microlecture with video as the main carrier has gradually penetrated into the teaching process of Ideological and political theory course in colleges and universities. However, according to the survey results, most of the current microlecture designs focus on the presentation of knowledge, lacking attention to students’ interests and needs, and turn microlecture into video versions of teaching materials, resulting in the actual effect of microlecture learning is far from the expected. In contrast, animated micro-course not only have the characteristics of short and compact microlecture, but also their interesting and vivid images are in line with the learning style loved by contemporary college students. Therefore, this study takes attention as the starting point, based on the EEG signals obtained by brain wave meter,to investigate the effect of animated micro-course and their design strategies in the Ideological and political theory course in colleges and universities,.The article first investigates the current situation and demand analysis of Ideological and political theory course in colleges and universities, through questionnaire survey and literature analysis, and explores the advantages and feasibility of applying animated micro-course in Ideological and political theory course in colleges and universities,.Then, according to the content of the Ideological and political theory course,we used Wancai Animation Master to make the animated micro-course video. Finally, the effects of the application of animated micro-courses and their design strategies are analyzed and discussed through three experiments in the classroom of the Ideological and political theory course,"Moral Cultivation and Legal Foundations".The first experiment was conducted to investigate the relationship between learners’ attention, performance, interest in learning and acceptance during the learning process of animated and recorded microlecture, and whether there were differences between animated and recorded microlecture in these four aspects. It was found that learners’ attention and achievement, learning interest and attention, receptivity and achievement, learning interest and receptivity showed strong positive correlations in the learning of both types of microlearning. The results of the difference test analysis showed that there were significant differences between learners who watched animated micro-course and learners who watched factual microlecture in terms of attention, achievement, interest in learning, and receptivity, and learners of animated micro-course,generally had higher attention, achievement, interest in learning, and receptivity than learners of factual microlecture. The second experiment was used to investigate the effect of applying the video text design strategies(focused illustrative text heterochromatic markers/non-heterochromatic markers, with or without subtitles)to the animated micro-course.It was found that focused explanatory text heterochromatic markers improved learners’ attention, but had no significant effect on learners’ performance. The presence or absence of subtitles had no significant effect on learners’ attention, and the absence of subtitles improved learners’ performance. The third experiment was used to investigate the effects of applying screen design strategies(with and without animated characters, static background/dynamic background)to animated microlearning videos. It was found that the presence of animated characters improved learners’ attention, but had no significant effect on learners’ performance. There was no significant effect of both static and dynamic background design on learners’ attention and achievement. The study concludes with the suggestion that animated micro-course,can be applied in Ideological and political theory course in colleges and universities to stimulate students’ interest in learning, improve their attention, and thus improve learning outcomes. When designing Animated micro-course,,the use of heterochromatic markers for key explanatory texts helps to improve students’ attention, and not adding subtitles can reduce visual attention distraction and help to improve performance.Appropriate addition of animated characters can enhance students’ attention, without spending much effort on the background design, simplicity is sufficient.
