The middle school stage is an important stage of human physical and mental development,ushering in a huge impact of the mature stage of physical and mental development.Psychological development is diverse and unstable,while internal values and external interpersonal relationships affect the level of mental health of middle school students.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the impact mechanism of fair world beliefs on mental health of middle school students.The belief in a just world refers to an individual’s perception of the world,which is a belief that people live in a world where they get what they get and what they deserve,believing that the world is orderly and fair.Peer relationship is the most common socialization problem among students during their education period,representing the adaptation of individual psychology in society.Therefore,the impact of peer relationship on the physical and mental development of middle school students has received widespread attention and attention from researchers.Therefore,this study explores the impact of middle school students’ belief in the just world on their mental health,and studies whether there is an impact mechanism for peer relationships.Combining the research findings,it provides operational recommendations to enhance middle school students’ belief in the just world,reduce the negative impact of unfair events,and maintain mental health,which has important theoretical and practical significance.A questionnaire survey was conducted among 812 middle school students from3 junior and high schools using the Mental Health Inventory for Middle School Students,Peer Relationship Questionnaire,and Fair World Belief Questionnaire.SPSS25.0 software and Process 4.0 were used to analyze the data.The research results show that:(1)The overall mental health status of middle school students is good,and the self rated symptom dimension scores are all low in stages,indicating that the symptoms are mild or none.There are significant differences in individual dimensions in gender,only child,and school accommodation;There is no significant difference in registered residence and single parent status.(2)The overall situation of peer relationship among middle school students is good,and there are significant differences in individual dimensions in gender,whether they are only children,and registered residence,but there is no significant difference in whether they are single parents.(3)Middle school students’ belief in a just world is relatively high,and their individual dimensions have significant differences in whether they live in school or not,registered residence,and no significant differences in gender,whether they are single parents,and whether they are only children.(4)There is a significant negative correlation between fair world beliefs and mental health among middle school students,a significant negative correlation between peer relationship and mental health among middle school students,and a significant correlation between peer relationship dimensions and fair world beliefs.(5)Middle school students’ fair world beliefs have significant predictive effects on peer relationships and mental health.In the regression equation of peer relationships,just world beliefs can significantly negatively predict peer relationships;In the regression equation for mental health,peer relationship and peer fear can significantly positively predict mental health,general and personal justice beliefs can significantly negatively predict mental health。(6)In the dimensions of peer relationship,peer acceptance and peer fear have mediating effects in the relationship between fair world beliefs and mental health among middle school students,playing a partial mediating role.Based on the above conclusions,corresponding educational suggestions are proposed: schools should follow the rules of student development and improve psychological education resources;Attach importance to the concept of fair world beliefs among middle school students,and strengthen the education of fair world beliefs;Strengthen interpersonal communication among middle school students and improve the quality of peer friendship;Families should create a good growth atmosphere and attach importance to family school collaborative education.
