In 2022,the New Curriculum for the Compulsory Education Arts Curriculum calls for an increase in the percentage of arts curriculum hours to 9%-11%,and that the art courses in the mandatorial education procedure be set up in stages,Lowenfeld’s "tool theory" advocated for the importance of raising children’s creative ability and guided teaching methods,which is in line with the Chinese art education direction.This has had a positive effect on the advancement and utilization of China’s pre-school children’s art education system at this stage,as it emphasizes the necessity of making art education child-centered and staged,while adhering to the principles of art education features and students’ physical and mental development stages to bridge the gap between each school stage.For this reason,the study of this paper is shown as follows.In the first part,a general summary of Lowenfeld and the emergence of his ideas is presented.With an emphasis on prior experience throughout the formative process of Lowenfeld’s thinkings,this part describes Lowenfeld’s biography,the historical circumstances of the emergence of art education philosophy,and the influence of European art educators on the formation of his ideas from four aspects: family life,educational experience,work experience,and academic achievements.In the second part,it elaborates the seven evaluation criteria,six division of growth stages and evaluation criteria of art works in Lowenfeld’s stage theory of children’s art development,and points out the artistic characteristics,artistic stimulation methods and evaluation strategies of preschool children studied in this paper.The debate of pertinent perspectives is finally addressed.Beginning with two levels of school and home education,the survey instrument,investigation questionnaire,and observation notes are employed to summarize the current state and issues of art education for preschoolers in China.Subsequently,the stage theory of Lowenfeld’s children’s art development is applied to specific educational practices,and suggestions and opinions are proposed to address the present state of pre-school children’s art education.Lastly,the curriculum is implemented.A summation and perspective of the entire text is presented in the closing part.
