In recent years, objective factors such as the ecological change of the media industry and the reform of the system and mechanism have led to a continuous decline in the employment rate of graduates majoring in journalism and communication. The employment direction shows a diversified trend, among which more graduates are engaged in the Internet industry and the system, while the proportion of students engaged in the media industry is relatively low.The problem of industry turning has become a phenomenon that cannot be ignored in journalism education.Traditional employment choice research focuses on single-factor analysis, follows the empirical research path of hypothesis first and verification later.Traditional employment selection usually adopts research methods such as questionnaire survey to explore single factors such as professional identity and working experience. It ignores the process and dynamic nature of employment choice as an individual behavior.Researchers are confined to their personal subjectivity, unable to conduct in-depth research, resulting in research fragmentation and ultimately difficult to break out of the framework of local static research. This research report uses qualitative research methods and in-depth interviews to discuss the employment selection process of 20 journalism and communication students, reveals the dynamic changes of their professional identity in different periods.Research shows that the lack of certain career goals and planning is the main problem in the current graduates’ employment selection process. The employment choice of graduates is a continuous process, including many realistic factors and accidental factors.Professional identity in different periods affects the employment choice of journalism and communication students,so as to explore the relationship between the two and analyze the impact of professional identity on their future employment trend.Individuals need to make clear their career planning and goals and clear self-cognition is the premise of planning.Schools can also tap into students’ interests and help them find their career goals, provide more business courses and internships for students who want to work in the media industry. In addition, the media industry itself also needs to accelerate the reform of the system and mechanism, raise the salary level and provide a suitable employment environment for the majority of graduates. |
