The Since the implementation of the double reduction policy, basketball interest classes in the form of after-school services have been formed in primary and secondary schools around the country, aiming at improving students’ basic basketball skills and cultivating students’ interest in basketball. However, because the method and concept can not meet the needs of students, the implementation effect can not reach the expected assumption.Students gradually lose interest in repetitive and boring exercises, which obviously does not accord with the concept of learning under the new curriculum reform, that is,to advocate and guide students to cooperate in learning.Through everyone’s input and effective mutual help, students’ sense of ownership can be well reflected. Therefore,it is more important to use more targeted teaching mode.Cooperative learning is still in use today, and it is a well-recognized teaching method at home and abroad. It can obtain ideal classroom teaching effect based on the combination of different members, the achievement of the same goal and accurate evaluation of members. It can not only promote students’ academic ability for a long time, but also help students develop a win-win situation and a sense of unity and cooperation. The researches on basketball teaching mainly focus on middle schools, higher vocational colleges, universities and other levels, and have achieved good teaching effects. However, there are few researches on basketball teaching in primary schools. This paper tries to introduce cooperative learning method into primary school basketball interest class under the background of after-school service,so as to provide reference for further enriching primary school basketball teaching methods. This study takes the teaching effect of cooperative learning method and traditional teaching method as the research object, and uses the method of literature, teaching experiment, questionnaire, competition analysis and mathematical statistics to randomly divide two basketball interest classes(20 students in each class)in Qiuchanglinghu Primary School of Huiyang District into experimental group and control group. The experimental group adopts cooperative learning method. The control group adopted the traditional teaching method and carried out the 16-week,2class hours per week teaching experiment.Through comparative analysis of basketball-specific physical quality, basketball skills, interest in basketball learning and social ability between the experimental group and the control group before and after the experiment,as well as technical statistical analysis of teaching games in week 1,Week 8 and Week 16 within the experiment cycle, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The cooperative learning method and the traditional teaching method have the same effect on the physical fitness of primary school students, showing that both can significantly improve the agility of primary school students, and the improvement effect is the same, but they can not have a significant impact on the speed, bounce, core strength of the three physical fitness.(2)Both the cooperative learning method and the traditional teaching method can effectively improve the level of primary school students’ basketball skills, and the cooperative learning method is better than the traditional teaching method, which is suitable for promotion and use in the teaching of primary school basketball interest classes.(3)Cooperative learning has a better effect on primary school students’ interest in basketball learning than traditional teaching method, which shows that cooperative learning can improve the level of primary school students’ situational interest and individual interest at the same time.Traditional teaching method can only improve the level of primary school students’ individual interest, but the improvement effect is not as significant as cooperative learning method.(4)Cooperative learning is better than traditional teaching method in improving pupils’ social ability.(5)The cooperative learning method is better than the traditional teaching method in improving the offensive and defensive ability of primary school students.
