As one of the daily activities in kindergartens,outdoor planting activities allow children to interact with plants,soil,sunlight,and tools and gain rich experience through hands-on manipulation,direct perception,and first-hand experience,which has a positive impact on children’s learning and development,teachers’ professional growth,and the development of school curriculum.In this study,four kindergartens in District X of Z City were selected as the research subjects in order to comprehensively and realistically understand the implementation status of outdoor planting activities in kindergartens,identify problems,and propose countermeasures accordingly.First,the literature research method was used to collect,summarize and analyze the literature on outdoor planting activities,and the questionnaire,interview and observation methods were used to investigate the basic understanding of outdoor planting activities,planning of outdoor planting activities,organization of outdoor planting activities and the effectiveness of outdoor planting activities.The researcher found that outdoor planting activities are commonly practiced in kindergartens,teachers agree more with the value of outdoor planting activities,the content of activities is diverse,and toddlers are more motivated to participate,but problems still exist,such as: first,teachers do not know enough about outdoor planting activities,second,the construction of conditions for outdoor planting activities is insufficient,and third,there is a lack of guidance for outdoor planting activities.Through field observations,in-depth interviews,and questionnaire data analysis,three main causes of these problems were found: first,a disconnect between research and practice;second,a disconnect between management and practice;and third,a disconnect between theory,guidance,and practice.Finally,based on the analysis of the problems and causes,we propose specific strategies for solving the problems from three perspectives: the education sector,preschools,and teachers.Suggestions for the education sector: First,strengthen management by optimizing conditions and focus on preliminary environmental design;second,provide relevant training and guidance,and play a scientific evaluation role.Suggestions for kindergartens: First,transform the ecological interaction environment to reflect the true interests of nature and create a planting paradise together;second,formulate scientific and reasonable plans,enrich planting resources,and select planting content together;third,carry out multi-level teaching and learning to enrich planting experience and achieve planting results together.Suggestions for teachers: organize practical and interesting activities,encourage hands-on experience,and strengthen reflective evaluation;secondly,strengthen professionalism,increase responsibility,and share the harvest of planting.
