"Mathematical model concept" is one of the important manifestations of the mathematics core literacy of junior middle school students,which helps students to carry out interdisciplinary subject learning and improve their mathematics application awareness and problem solving ability.Therefore,it is of great significance to cuttivate students’ mathematical model concept in junior middle school mathematics teaching.The present situation of mathematical model concept of junior high school students and the factors affecting the development of mathematical model concept are studied in this study.On this basis,suggestions are put forward to improve the mathematical model concept of junior high school students.With 296 students from three junior high schools in Linyi City,Shandong Province as samples,the research methods of literature analysis and testing,questionnaire and interview were used to investigate the current situation of mathematical model concept of junior high school students and its influencing factors,and the following research results were obtained:Current situation of mathematical model concept of Grade Three students:(1)On the whole,the mathematical model concept of the students in the third grade is in the middle level.From the perspective of the five dimensions of mathematical model concept,students ranked first and second in the recognition of mathematical model and the expression dimension of quantitative relationship.The second is the operational dimension of the quantitative relationship;Poor performance is the abstraction of mathematical problems and the discussion of modeling results of these two dimensions:(2)The mathematical model concept of junior high school students has significant differences between different schools,and different schools also have significant differences in the five performance dimensions of mathematical model concept.In addition,the scoring rate of students in the field of statistics and probability is higher than that in the field of mathematics and algebra and the field of graphics and geometry.(3)There is no significant gender difference in mathematical model concepts of Grade 3students.The main factors affecting the development of mathematical model concept of junior high school students are as follows:(1)student factors: students’ basic knowledge related to mathematical model is not firm,students lack of daily life experience;In addition,it also has something to do with,students’ learning attitude and daily learning habits of mathematics.(2)Teacher factors: In terms of teaching concept,teachers do not have a thorough understanding of the connotation of mathematical model concept and do not pay attention to the teaching of "synthesis and practice";In terms of teaching methods,some teachers do not pay attention to the creation of situation.(3)"Teaching material factors: the creation of some teaching materials deviates from the reality of students’ daily life,and project-based learning materials are relatively few.(4)Family factors: parents do not fully understand the importance of mathematical model concepts,and lack of jopportunities to guide students to observe and abstract mathematical models.Based on the investigation of the current situation of the mathematical model concept of the third grade students and the analysis of the factors affecting the development of the mathematical model concept of the third grade students,this paper puts forward the suggestions of training the mathematical model concept of the third grade students:(1)Teachers should update the mathematical teaching concept in time to improve their own understanding of the mathematical model concept:(2)Teachers should pay attention to the teaching of "synthesis and practice",so that students can perceive the basic process of mathematical modeling;(3)Teachers should pay attention to the change of teaching methods and enhance collaboration with teachers in other disciplines:(4)Students should consolidate the basic knowledge of mathematical models and improve their ability to identify and apply mathematical models;(5)Textbook writers should appropriately increase project-type learning content and develop model concepts in the process of problem solving:(6)Textbook writers should appropriately update teaching situation materials,so that students can abstract mathematical problems in real situations:(7)parents should contact with the reality of life to improve students’ ability to abstract mathematical problems.
