Arithmetic ability is one of the important abilities for students to learn mathematics well and plays an important role in the whole mathematics study.The evaluation of the mathematical operation ability of the eighth grade students not only conforms to the development trend of the current international mathematical education research,but also is an important process of deepening the reform of mathematics education,which has certain theoretical significance and practical value.This study investigates and analyzes the mathematical operation ability of eighth grade students.The main research question is the analysis of the current situation and training strategies of eighth grade students’ mathematical operation ability.The problem is subdivided into three sub-questions during the research process:(1)What is the current situation of eighth grade students’ mathematical operation ability?(2)What are the factors that affect the mathematical ability of eighth grade students?(3)What are the strategies for improving mathematical operation ability?Based on constructivism theory and Polya problem solving theory,this research is carried out through literature research,interview,questionnaire and analysis,and the following conclusions are reached:1.Current situation of mathematical ability of eighth grade studentsThrough the investigation of the eighth grade students in a junior middle school,it is found that the overall math ability of the eighth grade students in this area is low.From the survey of junior middle schools,there is a significant difference in the mathematical operation ability of students of different class levels,and the students with better class levels have relatively higher mathematical operation ability.There are also some differences in mathematical operation ability between different genders,and boys’ mathematical operation ability is relatively high.2.Factors affecting students’ mathematical operation ability:(1)self-cognition ability;(2)The mastery of basic mathematical knowledge;(3)The quality of computing habits;(4)Influence exerted by teachers.(5)Gender difference;(6)Different learning environments.According to the results of investigation and interview analysis,combined with my own thinking,I put forward three aspects of teaching suggestions:(1)Attach importance to mastering the basic knowledge of mathematical operations and cultivate students’ self-cognition ability:guide students to have clear self-cognition;Attach importance to the memorization and understanding of the basic knowledge of mathematical operations.(2)Make full use of the exemplary role of teachers and attach importance to the cultivation of students’ good learning habits:emphasize the problem-solving process and attach importance to the cultivation of students’ good operational habits;Give full play to the role of blackboard writing and influence students with practical actions.(3)In terms of differentiated teaching: clarify the gender differences of students and select appropriate teaching strategies;Make use of the characteristics of students at different levels and teach students according to their aptitude.
