High school career guidance and theme-based activity education can guide students to explore their personal strengths and plan their life paths, improve their career preparation ability, and better adapt to future career development. This study aims to explore the school-based design and implementation of theme-based career planning activities for high school students based on social adaptation theory.Using a combination of literature review and empirical research methods, the relevant literature on social adaptation theory and high school career planning is reviewed and summarized, and the content and strategies involved in theme-based career planning activities for high school students based on social adaptation theory are discussed.Subsequently,an empirical study was conducted on a certain high school to understand the many confusions and obstacles they face in career planning. The results showed that theme-based career planning activities based on social adaptation theory can improve students’ career choice ability and career planning ability, enhance their self-awareness and self-management skills, and help them understand the actual situation and development trends of the job market, thereby preparing them for their future career planning. Therefore, the future research direction should be to further explore the application value of social adaptation theory in career planning and how to optimize high school students’ career planning education to cultivate more high-level career planning and adaptation abilities. This study has important implications for the practice of career planning education, and it is hoped that relevant schools and educational institutions can refer to the research results to effectively improve students’ career planning abilities and career adaptation outcomes.
