| With the rapid urbanization process, cities are facing increasingly serious pressure on resources and ecological environment. On the one hand, chronic diseases such as respiratory system, excessive obesity and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases have become major threats to human health. On the other hand, the endless expansion of urban construction land has eroded the green space, resulting in the fragmentation of ecological resources on the urban scale, leading to a serious decline in its service quality.Research has proved that effective physical activity is an important way to reduce the occurrence of chronic diseases and improve public health. All kinds of green space in the city are important places for urban residents in their spare time, and also the main carrier of leisure physical activity. In recent years, community gardens have developed rapidly in China, becoming a new form of urban green space use,and also the green space that residents directly contact, which plays an important role in promoting green development, improving living environment and cultivating healthy behaviors. This study aims to understand the status quo of community garden built environment and residents’ recreational physical activity, explore the relationship between them, analyze the factors of built environment that community garden has an impact on residents’ recreational physical activity, and verify the effectiveness of community garden renovation.Further optimize the environmental planning strategy of community gardens to improve the efficiency of community gardens and the level of physical activity of residents.Based on the actual reconstruction project of community garden in Sanlin Yuan and Yongtai Huayuan, this study adopts the method of literature, direct observation(SOPARC observation tool),questionnaire and mathematical statistics to investigate the changes of residents’ activity characteristics before and after the transformation of community garden, and discusses the differences of residents’ participation in physical activities of different genders, ages and educational backgrounds. The results of this study show that residents’ perceived satisfaction rating on the built environment of community garden, the relationship between built environment and physical activity, and the main factors influencing it:(1)After the community garden environment renovation, the number of residents’ activities increased by 423 compared with 997 before the renovation.(2)The number of female residents in community garden activities was higher than that of male residents.Middle-aged and elderly residents accounted for 77.8%,and the education level was mostly 77.8% in middle and high schools.(3)The level of leisure physical activity of residents in community gardens was low, mainly light to medium intensity. The average L-PA activity time was 118.8minutes per week.L-PA time and sex(p<0.01),age group(p<0.01)there were significant differences in the level of education(p>0.05)The L-PA time of male was higher than that of female. The L-PA time of the elderly is higher than that of other age groups.(4)The satisfaction of the built environment of community garden was divided into five dimensions: the satisfaction value of accessibility(3.72)>Environmental aesthetic satisfaction value(3.59)>Activity path satisfaction value(3.58)>Environmental safety satisfaction value(3.53)>Satisfaction value of activity facilities(3.51).(5)The built environment of community garden has significant influence on residents’ L-PA time(p<0.01).Beautiful environment(p<0.05)had significant effect on the time of high intensity leisure physical activity;Activity facilities(p<0.01)had significant influence on the time of moderate intensity leisure physical activity. This study draws the following conclusions:(1)Environmental reconstruction measures of community gardens can improve residents’ participation in leisure physical activities in community gardens.(2)The built environment of community garden has a significant impact on residents’ leisure physical activity, and the aesthetic environment is an important factor. |
