Yunnan Province is a multi-ethnic,multi-religious and multi-cultural border area.Border stability and ethnic unity are the prerequisite for national development,while the education of ethnic unity and progress is an important way to enhance the sense of identity and cohesion of the Chinese nation and consolidate the stability of the border area.The Party and the state attach great importance to the ethnic unity and progress education of Yunnan university students in any period,because it can provide the necessary talent guarantee for expanding and consolidating the ethnic unity and progress of Yunnan to a large extent.This study focuses on the practical effects and deficiencies of deepening the education of ethnic unity and progress among college students in Yunnan in the new era,proposes countermeasures and suggestions for further optimizing the education of ethnic unity and progress among college students in Yunnan in the new era,and answers questions such as "what to teach","how to teach" and "who should teach" in the education of ethnic unity and progress among college students in Yunnan.Firstly,the paper systematically combs the connotation and theoretical basis of ethnic unity and progress education for college students.Secondly,combined with the yearbook and scholars’ scientific research achievements,the paper sorted out the specific content,measures,effects and deficiencies of deepening the education of ethnic unity and progress of college students in Yunnan in the new era.The results show that the universities in Yunnan regard the Marxist ethnic view,the Marxist ethnic theory with Chinese characteristics,the ethnic policies of the Party and the state,and the fine historical traditions of the Chinese nation as the main contents of ethnic unity and progress education for college students.Through the creative use of building the main channel,sticking to the main position,building three teams and grasping the four key education modes,the education system of ethnic unity and progress in colleges and universities has been improved,the education mode of ethnic unity and progress in colleges and universities has been innovated,the awareness of ethnic unity and progress in Yunnan students has been raised,and three "integrated" education features of ethnic unity and progress in Yunnan college students have been formed.Three "combination",namely the combination of system construction and supervision and inspection,the combination of theoretical teaching and theoretical innovation,the combination of culture and practice education.Finally,according to the relevant yearbook and scientific research results,the existing problems of Yunnan university students’ ethnic unity and progress education are sorted out.The results show that some universities in Yunnan province still have deficiencies in the three aspects of system and mechanism construction,teaching resource integration,and education realization path,and further put forward the countermeasures and suggestions to optimize the ethnic unity and progress education of Yunnan university students.
