Basketball events have complex and antagonistic movement patterns, which require high specific physical fitness for athletes.Due to the limitations of growth and development stages, small basketball players’ muscle control ability and neural coordination ability need to be further developed.Currently, grassroots coaches do not have a clear understanding of the activity ability of various body structures of small basketball players, and the training mode is relatively simple.Developing a training plan that is divorced from the actual situation is not only detrimental to the development of the specific physical fitness of small basketball players, but also potentially buries potential sports injuries. Therefore,it is very necessary to use scientific and easy screening tools to conduct sports pattern screening for small basketball players, further identify physical weaknesses, and targeted improvements.Functional Movement Screen is a tool for assessing movement patterns, which can assess physical movement defects and weak chains through screening. The effectiveness and feasibility of FMS in the field of sports training has been widely recognized, and related research is relatively rich, but targeted practical research on the application of FMS for small basketball players is relatively poor. This study explored the effectiveness of targeted training based on FMS screening results on improving the specific physical fitness of small basketball players through experiments. Methods:Using research methods such as literature review, expert interviews, questionnaires, experiments, and mathematical statistics, this article selected 16 men’s basketball players aged 9-10 from Group D of Baoshan Children’s Sports School in Shanghai as experimental subjects.According to the scores of the functional motion screening(FMS)pretest,16 subjects were ranked and divided into semi random groups.Through expert interviews and questionnaires,a targeted training plan was developed,The experimental group was given an intervention plan for 16 weeks, three times a week, while the control group was given physical fitness training for the coaches.During the intervention training, the training cycle and training load of the two groups were controlled at the same level. Before and after the experiment,FMS test and special physical fitness test data were collected and processed using SPSS23.0.The test data results were displayed in mean ± standard deviation(X ±SD): Independent sample T test was used to analyze whether there were differences in the pre test performance data between the two groups. After the experiment, the pre test and post test results of the two groups were analyzed longitudinally in the same group, and then compared horizontally between the groups.P<0.05 indicates a significant difference, while P<0.01 indicates a very significant difference. Results:In the longitudinal comparison of FMS tests after the experiment, the experimental group showed significant differences in the tests of squatting, hurdle stepping, and trunk stable push ups(P<0.05),while the straight lunge, active straight knee lift, and total scores showed very significant differences(P<0.01).The two test results of shoulder flexibility, and trunk rotational stability did not show significant differences(P>0.05);Control group: Although there was an improvement in each test compared to the previous one, there was no significant difference before and after each test(p>0.05).In the longitudinal comparison of special physical fitness tests after the experiment, the experimental group showed very significant differences in5.80 m * 3 turn back running,30 s hip joint internal and external rotation,multi-directional movement around the restricted area,1 min alternating rope skipping, shoulder loop, and standing jump in the air, with both hands passing the ball over the head(P<0.01),while the sitting and forward bending tests did not show significant differences(P>0.05);In the control group, only 5.80 m * 3 turn back runs(p<0.05)and multidirectional movement around the restricted zone(p<0.01)showed significant differences, while the remaining 5 items showed significant differences. In the lateral comparison of FMS tests between the two groups after the experiment, there was no significant difference in the results of shoulder flexibility and torso rotation stability tests(P>0.05),while the other items showed significant differences. After the experiment,in the horizontal comparison of the two groups in the specific physical fitness test, except for the sitting posture and forward flexion, there was no significant difference in the scores before and after the test(P>0.05),the other six tests showed significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusions:FMS testing can be used for young basketball players aged 9-10 years.Targeted training based on FMS testing has effectively improved the flexibility of shoulder joints, hip joints, thoracic vertebrae, ankle joints, and the stability of shoulder blades, lumbar vertebrae, and knee joints of small basketball players at Baoshan Children’s Sports School, which has substantial help in improving their specific physical fitness and has played a positive role in reducing the risk of sports injury for small basketball age children at Baoshan Children’s Sports School.
