The Curriculum Philosophy of the Compulsory Education Information Technology Curriculum Standards(2022 Edition)mentions the need for the Information Technology curriculum to enhance students’ knowledge transfer ability and disciplinary thinking.It also advocates that students should clarify the process of applying Information Technology principles and experience the process of computational thinking and digital tool application,in order to construct knowledge and enhance problem-solving skills.At the same time,junior high school students have been exposed to learning the Python programming language.The learning of programming content is more focused on the problem-solving process rather than the results,so teachers should focus on problem solving,method formation,and thinking development in their teaching.Therefore,junior high school Information Technology teaching should be concentrated on developing students’ Information Technology thinking skills and continuing to deepen Information Technology teaching reform.However,thinking is too abstract and Thinking Visualization is a unique advantage in developing higher-order thinking skills in Information Technology by representing invisible thinking as a ’visible way’.Thinking Visualization provides a new way of developing thinking and is a key point in the development of higher-order thinking skills in the junior secondary Information Technology curriculum.Guided by theories such as meaningful learning theory,dual coding theory,cognitive schema theory and educational goal classification theory,this study proposes Thinking Visualization Teaching Strategies such as thinking path visualization and thinking style visualization for junior high school Information Technology courses.What’s more,it applies Thinking Visualization Teaching Strategies to Information Technology new knowledge inquiry lessons and exercise review lessons.This has some reference and implications for developing students’ in teaching middle school Information Technology courses.Firstly,based on a definition of the core concepts,this paper adopts a literature research approach to review and Sort out the literature on existing research,and make a clear identification of the objectives and methods of the research.Secondly,this study provides an overview of the current state of research on Thinking and Higher Order Thinking Ability,Thinking Visualization,and Thinking Visualization Teaching Strategies,and further defines the identification of concepts related to Thinking Visualization.Then,under the guidance of the theoretical foundation,this study proposes Teaching Strategies of Thinking Visualization path and Thinking Visualization style for junior high school information technology courses according to the design basis and construction principles of junior high school Information Technology Teaching Strategies,so as to construct the overall framework of the study.Finally,this study focuses on the practical application and effectiveness analysis of Thinking Visualization Teaching Strategies according to the teaching content of the junior high school Information Technology curriculum for two types of classes,namely,new knowledge inquiry class and exercise review class,in order to implement Thinking Visualization into Information Technology classroom teaching.The empirical results show that Thinking Visualization Teaching Strategies in junior high school Information Technology courses can effectively improve students’ academic performance and programming ability,and also better improve students’ Information Technology Higher Order Thinking Ability.
