Higher-order thinking ability is a necessary ability for students to adapt to the information and intelligent era.It is also the requirement of the society for talent training in the new era and one of the important goals pursued by the new curriculum reform.In this paper,the cultivation of students ’ higher-order thinking ability in high school chemistry classroom,which meets the social requirements for talent training,is explored by 5E teaching mode.The main research contents are as follows:1.A theoretical basis for teaching practice of cultivating students ’high-order thinking ability based on 5E teaching mode in high school chemistry classroom is provided by defining the concept of high-order thinking ability in chemistry,clarifying the research status of 5E teaching mode and high-order thinking ability at home and abroad,and analyzing the internal consistency between 5E teaching mode and high-order thinking ability using literature research method.2.A teaching process of cultivating students ’ higher-order thinking ability in chemistry is constructed by integrating the relevant theories of higher-order thinking ability into 5E teaching mode.The effectiveness and operability of 5E teaching mode in cultivating higher-order thinking ability is improved by the training strategies for each step.3.The evaluation tools such as questionnaires,test papers and classroom observation scales are constructed by integrating the existing research results and the characteristics of chemistry on the basis of Bloom’s Taxonomy of Educational Objectives and Zhong Zhixian ’s view of higher-order thinking ability.4.Teaching practices were carried out in the experimental class and the control class using selected teaching cases such as ’nitrogen and its compounds’,’primary battery’,’development and utilization of metal minerals’ rom the second volume of the high school chemistry compulsory course of the People ’s Education Edition(2019 Edition).The diagnostic and summative evaluations are conducted by on questionnaires and test papers in the experimental class and the control class,as well as the process evaluation conducted by quantization table of classroom observation.5.After teaching practice,collect and process questionnaire data,test paper data and classroom observation scale data,and draw research conclusions according to the data processing results.The research shows that after teaching practice,the high order thinking ability and various elements of chemistry of students in the experimental class are effectively improved;There are significant differences between the experimental class and the control class in the level of high-level thinking ability and various elements of chemistry,and the experimental class is higher than the control class.Therefore,carrying out 5E teaching mode in high school chemistry classroom is helpful to the development of students’ higher order thinking ability.5E teaching mode can be an effective way to cultivate students’ problem-solving ability,critical thinking ability,innovation ability and other higher order thinking ability.Finally,it analyzes the main problems existing in the teaching practice and puts forward the solutions.At the same time,the prospect of improving students’ higher-order thinking ability based on 5E teaching mode is put forward,in order to provide reference for cultivating students’ higher-order thinking ability through 5E teaching mode in high school chemistry teaching and enrich the ways of cultivating higher-order thinking ability.
