As the backbone of the country’s future development,college students are in the growth stage of self-concept improvement.In the current complex and changing environment of the information age,they tend to experience frustration and a sense of worthlessness when facing the conflict between their real and ideal selves,resulting in a slippage in their sense of meaning in life.Physical exercise can maintain and strengthen life activities,and is an effective means to improve physical and mental health and lifestyle.A review of the literature shows that there are few studies on physical exercise and sense of meaning in life in China,and there is little empirical evidence on the effect of physical exercise on the sense of meaning in life through specific programs.Line dance is an international fitness sport with special characteristics,and its easy integration of trendy elements and easy to learn features meet the needs of contemporary college students pursuing trendy sports and meet the inherent requirements of university public sports life.Therefore,based on the characteristics and values of line dance,this study investigates the influence paths and effects of line dance on the sense of meaningfulness of life.Objective: This study focuses on the sense of meaning of life of college students from the perspective of positive psychology,and conducts experiments based on the physical and mental development characteristics of college students,using line dance exercise as an intervention method,and compares and analyzes the basic information situation,total score and index of each dimension of psychological capital and sense of meaning of life before and after the experiments,verifies the influence of line dance exercise on college students’ psychological capital and sense of meaning of life,and tests the mediating effect of psychological capital between line dance exercise and In addition,we also examine the mediating effect of psychological capital on the sense of meaning of life of college students,and reveal the inner mechanism of the effect of psychological capital on the sense of meaning of life of college students.On this basis,we will enrich the educational value and connotation of line dance movement,and provide empirical support and practical solutions for line dance movement to positively influence college students’ psychological capital and sense of meaning in life.Methods: Convenience sampling was used to select 113 students from a university in Xiamen as experimental subjects,and they were randomly divided into 58 in the experimental group and 55 in the control group according to their academic numbers.16 weeks(3 times per week)of line dance exercise intervention was implemented in the experimental group,and no intervention was conducted in the control group during the experimental period.In addition,both groups maintained their normal lives without participating in activities that affected the experiment as well as without situations that affected the experiment.The Physical Activity Rating Scale(PARS-3),the Psychological Capital Questionnaire(PPQ)and the Meaningfulness of Life Scale(MLM)were used to distribute and collect the pre-and post-experimental measurement questionnaires in the field by group measurement,and the data were analyzed using SPSS25.0.Convenience sampling was used to select 113 the control group in the total score of sense of meaning in life and its dimensions and the total score of psychological capital and its dimensions scores before the intervention experiment.Paired-samples t-test analysis showed that after 16 weeks of line dance exercise intervention,the total score of sense of meaning in life(P=0.000<0.01)and its dimensions in the experimental group of college students were significantly different in the sense of excitement(P=0.007<0.01),sense of achievement(P=0.015<0.05),principle(P=0.003<0.01),sense of purpose(P=0.008<0.01),sense of value(P=0.000<0.01)and total psychological capital score(P=0.000<0.01)and its dimensions on self-efficacy(P=0.000<0.01),resilience(P=0.031<0.05),hope(P=0.000<0.01),and optimism(P=0.000<0.01)were significantly increased after the intervention experiment.In contrast,the total scores on the sense of meaningfulness of life and its dimensions and the total scores on psychological capital and its dimensions of the control group of college students did not differ significantly(P>0.05)before and after the experiment,and showed a decreasing trend compared to the pre-experiment,but there was no significant change overall.(2)The correlation analysis among the variables showed that line dance exercise,psychological capital,and sense of meaningfulness of life were significantly and positively correlated with each other.(3)The intermediate effect test showed that line dance exercise could affect the sense of meaning of life both positively,with a direct effect of 53.27%,and indirectly,through the path of line dance exercise → psychological capital → sense of meaning of life,with an indirect effect of 46.63%.Conclusion:(1)Line dancing exercises can improve college
