With the rise of the information technology revolution,computer network,big data,mobile communication and other technologies continue to develop,in the field of education also set off a "Internet+ education" reform wave.In this wave,the types of courses are more diverse,and the research and application of blended courses in higher education has become a new force of higher education reform.The international research on blended courses has been going on for about 20 years,and a lot of research results have been accumulated.On the basis of the rich research achievements,how to carry forward the past and open up the future,and provide help for the development of practice is worth thinking about.Based on this background,this paper selects the internationally representative Web of Science database and uses Hist Cite,VOSviewer,Cite Space and other tools to study the literature of blended courses of higher education from2002 to 2021.To understand the current development trend of blended courses research in higher education.On the basis of reviewing the development situation of international research and comparing with the research situation in China,this paper gives full play to the existing advantages and makes up for the corresponding shortcomings,so as to facilitate the construction of blended courses in China’s higher education and promote the reform of higher education.The first part of the paper mainly describes the research methods,data sources,literature retrieval,research tools,research ideas and other research design content,clear the research object and method.The second part mainly using literature metrology tools to understand the basic situation,through the analysis and interpretation of the charts,visually presented international higher education blended courses research literature output and distribution,author and mechanism analysis,the highly cited literature and citation relations,the high frequency keywords analysis and current research status,etc.The third part is mainly the analysis of the atlas of Scientific knowledge,mainly from the topic clustering,evolution characteristics,development trend and other aspects of higher education blended courses research.The fourth part mainly puts forward the enlightenment of international higher education blended courses research to our country,and finally carries on the research summary.It is found that the research on blended courses in international higher education is growing rapidly and is in the stage of development.Representative journals include Computers and Education,Australian Journal of Educational Technology and Internet and Higher Education.The research team and core authors are still immature;Published institutions are mainly universities;Blended learning,higher education,online learning,students,perception,technology,performance,flipped classroom are the high frequency keywords in this field.The research topics focus on the implementation of technical resources,the effectiveness of the curriculum and the concerns and analysis of learners in the course development process.The research progress in this field shows the following characteristics: early focus on technology application,middle focus on learning analysis,recently focus on learning support.The development trend of future research mainly focuses on student participation,learning management and analysis,teaching model updating,teaching team and so on.The research of blended courses in international higher education has the following implications for China: first,deepen theoretical research and generate local theories;Second,enrich research topics and analyze from multiple perspectives;Finally,strengthen the study of learner learning management and analysis.
