Each person’s all-round development is inseparable from self-confidence,which includes confidence in adapting to new environments,confidence in individual socialization,confidence in learning ability and confidence in respecting and accepting oneself.The development and growth of children is a gradual process,and the level of self-confidence of children at this stage has an important impact on their growth and development.Children in distress have the problem of low self-confidence due to poverty,lack of family education,insufficient attention to school education,and insufficient community influence,which hinders the healthy growth and development of children.Therefore,it is an important research topic to improve the self-confidence level of children in distress,guide them to establish correct self-concept and face the difficulties and challenges in life with a positive and optimistic attitude.In this study,the rural children in distress in the Z subdistrict of J city’s easy-access poverty alleviation and resettlement community were taken as the research subjects.By means of questionnaire survey method,interview method and observation method,we found that the children in distress in this subdistrict have the problem of lack of self-confidence,which is manifested in poor adaptive ability,lack of initiative in interpersonal communication,poor classroom cooperation,unclear self-understanding and low evaluation of themselves.To address the lack of self-confidence of rural children in difficulty,the author summarized the needs of children in difficulty,which mainly include improving their adaptability to the environment,carrying out systematic social training,improving their social environment,and changing their unreasonable self-perceptions,and decided to apply social learning theory and dominant perspective theory to design group work suitable for children in difficulty and carry out "Zhen Xin Xiang Companion" for the clients.We decided to apply social learning theory and the theory of strengths perspective to design a group work suitable for children in difficulty,and to carry out the activity of "ZEN Xin Xiang Xiang Wu-Self-confidence Enhancement Group for Rural Children in Difficult Situations" to help children in difficult situations to understand themselves correctly,to discover their own strengths and potentials,to learn to affirm themselves,to believe in themselves,to improve their behavioral habits,to enhance their adaptability to the environment,and to form an optimistic and positive attitude towards life.The group members’ self-confidence level will be thereby enhanced.After seven thematic activities,such as "Our group","Cooperation to win","Little orator","Correct understanding of self","Good habits I can do","Not afraid of difficulties and rise to the occasion" and "I can do it in the future",the social worker evaluated the effectiveness of the group work.After the seven thematic activities of "Our group","Cooperation can win","Little orator","Correct understanding of self","Good habits I can do","Not afraid of difficulties,rise to the challenge" and "I can do it in the future",the social worker evaluated the effectiveness of the group work and found that the objectives of the group were basically achieved.The group members’ self-confidence level was generally improved,and the design of group activities was well received by the clients,and the group work was effective for the clients.At the same time,the author also reflected on the problems that existed in the group process,such as incomplete consideration of the individual needs of the group members,insufficient professional capacity of the social workers,and difficulties in the implementation of follow-up services.
