In recent years,with increasing attention to physical health and the rapid development of the media industry,more and more autism patients have been discovered,understood,and paid attention to.Facing the group of children with autism,how to strengthen research,diagnosis,and intervention on children with autism,and strive to improve their own life skills,is related to whether children with autism can smoothly return to school,return to the classroom,and live a nearly normal life.For individuals with autism,mastering basic life skills is of great benefit for future rehabilitation training and social development.This article is based on an internship at Y rehabilitation institution in Anhui Province,using the concept of social work to help people and help themselves.Through personal observation of autistic children in the rehabilitation institution and detailed interviews with the staff in the institution,we have gained a deeper understanding of the life skills level of autistic children.With the help of internship experience in Y rehabilitation institution,based on Ecological systems theory and behaviorism therapy,this paper carried out seven group activities for four autistic children and their parents.The research content was to improve the life skills of autistic children in institutions,mainly improving the skills of autistic children in dressing,dining,personal hygiene,toilet use,and simple cooking,Expand the ways parents and institutions can cope with life skills challenges,raise parents’ awareness of children’s skills training,and master effective training methods.At the same time,strengthen the linkage between parents and institutional teachers,integrate resources,and work together to promote the healthy growth of children with autism,so that children with autism can independently use life skills to face difficulties,achieve self-care,better integrate into society,and promote individual social development.Based on this study on the improvement of life skills in children with autism,it is concluded that: firstly,the tripartite linkage between social workers,parents,and institutions is the fundamental prerequisite for children with autism to improve their skills;Secondly,social workers’ adherence to the role positioning of service providers,coordinators,and advocates is an effective tool for life skills training for children with autism;The third is the close combination of professionalism and practicality in social work,forming a professional community for the interaction and integrated development of social work theory and practice,which is an inexhaustible driving force for improving the life skills of children with autism.In addition,this article reflects on the design of group plans and research methods,and advocates for parents to adopt a rational attitude towards their children’s life skills,conduct planned training,strengthen their learning ability and training skills,and maintain smooth communication with rehabilitation institutions;Advocating that institutions should establish specialized life skills improvement courses,vigorously introduce talent resources,and create a high-quality work environment;Social work majors should focus on building learning and communication platforms,building cooperation bridges with autism rehabilitation institutions,improving training mechanisms,and providing rich training venues for social work professionals.This study aims to provide certain reference and assistance for practical and theoretical research on life skills in children with autism in the future. |
