The art course plays an important role in the aesthetic education curriculum of schools. It is of great significance in the cultivation of students’ aesthetic ability, creativity, and strong personality.Art is a way of conveying information, feelings, and ideas through visual images, making it an important means of human communication.Watercolor painting is a medium that uses water-based transparent pigments to paint on paper. Its characteristics of freshness, proper shading, and its popularity among children make it a perfect addition to the art curriculum."Art Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)" propose that the teaching of art should provide students with a rich way of artistic expression and an understanding of the world while respecting students’ unique perceptual experiences and diversified artistic expressions.Integrating watercolor art into the middle school art curriculum can help students improve their interest in learning, develop and utilize art resources in depth, enrich the content and form of teaching, improve the classroom effect, and achieve the goals of middle school art.In junior high school art textbooks, the learning content of watercolor painting is mostly combined with other subjects. However, some teachers recognize the teaching advantages of watercolor art and have strengthened its application in junior high school art classes, but it has not yet been widely used. Therefore,in the context of aesthetic education reform in the new era,it is necessary to explore how to integrate and implement watercolor into the middle school art curriculum. This thesis examines the integration of watercolor into the teaching of middle school art courses.Apart from the introduction and conclusion,it consists of four parts. The first part discusses the general situation of watercolor teaching in our country, and analyzes factors contributing to the crisis of local contraction and "marginalization" of watercolor teaching, including complexity of watercolor painting techniques, teachers’ conceptual problems, and restrictions on teaching time. These challenges are important to address when integrating watercolor into the teaching of fine art curriculum in junior high school. The second part investigates the current situation of watercolor integration in junior high school art courses, focusing on Shihezi No.10 Middle School of the Eighth Division of Xinjiang Corps as an example.Research was conducted through a questionnaire survey of junior high school students and teacher interviews to identify problems including inadequate depth of teaching content and a relatively simplistic teaching mode. The application of watercolor in Xiangmei junior high school art textbooks is also analyzed to provide insights for curriculum development. The third part introduces a teaching practice that integrates watercolor into junior high art courses.Starting from core qualities of aesthetic perception, artistic expression, creative practice, and cultural understanding, the self-designed watercolor course "The Charm of Watercolor" was developed based on compulsory education art curriculum standards(2022 edition)and guided by humanistic and constructivism learning theories.Unitized teaching is carried out through the corresponding design courses, including "Watercolor Art Appreciation," "Watercolor Technique Practice," and "Watercolor Expression of Old Objects," taught in combination with inquiry-based learning methods. The use of watercolor in junior middle school art classes can stimulate students’ interest in painting, broaden their artistic vision, and enhance their creativity. Finally, the fourth part presents a teaching summary and reflections on the integration of watercolor into junior high school art courses, providing insights into watercolor art integration, teaching method thinking, optimization of curriculum resources, and the control of teaching processes. This research aims to offer guidance for the application of watercolor in the art teaching of junior high school. |
