Objective: To explore the influence of family atmosphere on peer relationship and the role of two mediating variables,inferiority and coping style,in the sample of junior middle school students.Methods:questionnaire data were randomly collected from 900 junior middle school students from two secondary schools in Haikou,through the SPSS 26.0software and the SPSS MACRO program process 4.0 carried on the statistical analysis to 816 valid data carries on the statistical analysis.Results:(1)Junior high school students’ positive coping has significant differences in gender and grade(t=3.50,F=39.31,P<0.001),junior high school students’ negative coping has significant differences in grade(F=412.50,P<0.001),junior high school students’ inferiority complex has significant differences in gender and grade(t=-4.53,F=12.68,P<0.001),the peer relationship of junior middle school students has significant differences in gender and grade(t=-2.02,p<0.05,F=34.18,p<0.001),and the family atmosphere of junior middle school students has significant differences in gender and grade(t=2.77,p<0.01,F=51.91,p<0.001),there was no significant gender difference in the negative coping of junior high school students;(2)The inferiority complex of junior high school students was positively correlated with peer relationship and negative coping(r=0.698,r=0.516,p<0.01).Junior middle school students’ inferiority complex was negatively correlated with family atmosphere and positive coping(r=-0.418,r=-0.272,p<0.01),and junior middle school students’ peer relationship was negatively correlated with family atmosphere and positive coping(r=-0.487,r=-0.385,p<0.01).The peer relationship of middle school students was positively correlated with negative coping(r=0.463,p<0.01),the family atmosphere of middle school students was positively correlated with positive coping(r=0.502,p<0.01),and the family atmosphere of middle school students was negatively correlated with negative coping(r=-0.248,p<0.01).(3)Inferiority complex of junior middle school students played a partial mediating role in the influence mechanism of family atmosphere and partner relationship,with a mediating effect size of 51.4%;positive coping played a partial mediating role in the influence mechanism of family atmosphere on peer relationship,with a mediating effect size of19.5%;negative coping played a partial mediating role in the influence mechanism of family atmosphere on peer relationship.The mediating effect size was 18.5%.(4)Inferiority and positive coping of junior middle school students had a partial mediating effect between family atmosphere and peer relationship,which was-0.186,accounting for 65.0% of the total effect.Inferiority and negative coping had a partial mediating effect between family atmosphere and peer relationship,which was-0.150.Accounted for 52.4% of the total effect.Conclusion: The family atmosphere of junior middle school students affects the peer relationship through inferiority and coping style.
