With the advent of departmental Chinese textbooks and the development of traditional unit teaching,large unit teaching has become a hot topic in education in recent years.With the characteristics of "overall planning,task promotion,and situational generation",large unit teaching has become a hot topic in different disciplines at different stages of learning.The promulgation of the Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022Edition),emphasizes the inheritance of excellent traditional Chinese culture,and folk tales are one of the carriers of traditional culture.Applying large unit teaching to folk tales teaching can not only improve the teaching efficiency of folk tales,but also enrich the research on large unit teaching design of high-level folk tales in primary schools.This article expounds the teaching value of folk tales by analyzing their advantages in three aspects: aesthetic appreciation,inheritance of excellent culture,and moral cultivation.It also analyzes the content and theme of folk tales in the department’s edition,and summarizes the similarities between large unit teaching and folk tales in terms of theme integration.The third part uses questionnaires and case studies to identify existing problems and analyze the causes of the problems,which is the basis for the principles and strategies proposed in the next chapter.The fourth part is about the principles and strategies of teaching design for large units of high level folk tales in primary schools.The teaching design cases are conducted with reference to the principles and strategies.The fifth part is a case study of the large unit instructional design of elementary school high level folk tales.The third unit of the fifth grade volume is used as an example of the large unit instructional design of elementary school high level folk tales and a reflective design.This study uses Unit 3 of Volume 1 of Grade 5 to design a large unit teaching.In the specific design,it follows the principles of integrating unit content,creating real situations,designing unit tasks,and teaching evaluations.The case is based on the starting point of "endless telling of folk tales",with teaching design combined with local characteristic culture to enable students to appreciate and inherit beauty in the process of learning,achieving the goal of cultivating students’ core literacy,with a view to enriching case resources for teaching and designing large units of primary school folk tales.
