Learning environment is an important basis for teaching reform and also a key point in the field of educational technology research.The classroom physical environment supported by technology is an important content in the learning environment.Based on the PST framework,the environment and pedagogy interact with each other.However,at present,there are more researches on teaching methods,but less researches on classroom physical environment.Learning engagement is an important index to measure the quality of education.In order to improve students’ comprehensive quality and meet the needs of the society,it is necessary to focus on the subject of information technology and clarify the specific influence mechanism between classroom physical environment and learning engagement.Based on the theory of the S-O-R,the research focuses on the subject of information technology.It explored the impact of classroom physical environment on primary school students’ information technology learning engagement,and deeply explored the impact of classroom physical environment such as layout,light,sound,technology,ventilation and temperature on cognitive engagement,the impact of emotional engagement and behavioral engagement.At the same time,the mediating effect of cognitive engagement and emotional engagement between the dimensions of classroom physical environment(layout,light,sound,technology,ventilation,temperature)and behavioral engagement were tested.The specific questions of the research are:(1)In terms of influence:(1)Will each dimension of classroom physical environment affect behavioral investment?(2)Will each dimension of classroom physical environment affect cognitive investment and emotional investment?(3)Will cognitive investment and emotional investment have an impact on behavioral investment?(2)In terms of mediating effect:(1)Does cognitive engagement play a mediating role in the process of influencing the various dimensions of classroom physical environment and behavioral engagement?(2)Does emotional engagement play a mediating role in the process of influencing the various dimensions of classroom physical environment and behavioral engagement?(3)In terms of specific mediating effects:(1)If cognitive engagement and emotional engagement both play a mediating role in the impact of each dimension on behavioral engagement,which one plays a main role?(4)In terms of strategies proposed:(1)Based on the research conclusions,what classroom physical environment design strategies can be proposed?(2)Based on the research conclusions,what teaching strategies can be proposed?In response to the above questions,the study collected a total of 687 questionnaire samples from primary school students in Chongqing and Guangdong,and conducted interviews with 10 students and 5 teachers in Chongqing,Sichuan,and Hubei.Using SPSS and Process analysis quantitative data for descriptive analysis,correlation analysis,difference analysis,regression analysis and mediation effect test and using NVivo to analyze qualitative data and draw the final conclusion:(1)Primary school students rated the physical environment of the information technology classroom as above-average,with the highest rating on ventilation and the lowest rating on sound.(2)Primary school students’ information technology learning engagement is generally at the upper-middle level,with the highest level of emotional engagement and the lowest level of cognitive engagement.(3)The layout,light,technology,and temperature in the physical environment of primary school students’ information technology classrooms positively affect their cognitive engagement,emotional engagement,and behavioral engagement in the information technology classroom,and sound and ventilation positively affect their emotional engagement and behavior in the classroom Devotion has no significant effect on cognitive devotion,while cognitive devotion and emotional devotion positively affect behavioral devotion.(4)In the process of information technology classroom,primary school students’ cognitive engagement and emotional engagement play an intermediary role in the influence path from layout,light,technology,sound,ventilation,temperature to behavioral engagement.In the influence process of sound,ventilation and behavioral engagement,the mediating effect of emotional engagement is greater than that of cognitive engagement.In the dimension of temperature,the mediating effect of cognitive engagement is greater than that of emotional engagement.Based on S-O-R theory,a model of the influence mechanism between classroom physical environment and learning engagement is constructed and tested.Compared with previous studies,on the one hand,this study focuses on the information technology classroom and the relationship between various elements of classroom physical environment and learning engagement;on the other hand,it explores the specific influence mechanism of various elements of classroom physical environment on learning engagement,and explains the dynamic process that external environment ultimately influences behavioral engagement through individual internal cognitive and emotional engagement.It has enriched the research on classroom physical environment and learning engagement,and provided theoretical exploration and practical enlightenment for the information technology classroom physical environment and learning engagement. |
