Students' knowledge mainly comes from the class, but there are only forty minutes in one class. Therefore, engaging in the class effectively is not only related to students' study of book knowledge, but also helpful to students' thinking development.Effective class engagement can enable students to learn interesting mathematical knowledge with physical and mental pleasure, and experience the charm of mathematics. The class engagement of junior primary school students is relatively high, but it gradually declines in senior grade of primary school with the deepening of mathematical knowledge students learn, the increase of students' age and their psychological development. The author investigates and analyzes the mathematics class engagement of senior students in primary school in terms of students' cognition, emotion and behavior. It is hoped that this research will help teachers to increase the enthusiasm of senior students in primary school to participate in their mathematics class and enhance students' awareness of participating in mathematics class. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is introduction, including the proposing of the problem, research purpose and significance, research ideas and content, concept definition, research overview, research design, research difficulties and innovations. The second part concerns the current situation of mathematics class engagement of senior students in primary school, which includes the basic status of cognitive engagement(shallow cognitive engagement, deep cognitive engagement, dependent on teachers' cognitive engagement),emotional engagement(the engagement of the sense of fun, boredom and anxiety)and behavioral engagement(the engagement of concentration on the class and in delving into difficult problems)in mathematics class for students in senior grade of primary school, etc. The third part refers to the analysis of the problems and reasons of mathematics class engagement existing in the students of senior primary school. The main problems are as follows: In mathematics class engagement, some students are more dependent on teachers, parts of them have the sense of anxiety and less interest in exploring problems, and students have less enthusiasm in concentrating on the class. The reasons for these problems can be analyzed from the following aspects.Firstly, students haven't developed good learning habits,so that their cognitive engagement remains at a shallow level. And also, teacher 's evaluation of students' engagement in mathematics class is relatively simple. The fourth part is the countermeasures to solve the mathematics class engagement problems of senior students in primary school.First of all, teachers should teach students effective learning strategies, train students to develop good mathematical learning habits and promote students to master the method of learning transfer.Secondly, teachers ought to work hard to cultivate and improve students' mathematical abilities, create opportunities to guide students to question, motivate students to make mathematical reasoning and leave space to encourage students to think independently.Thirdly, teachers need to use teaching methods flexibly.Game teaching could increase students' learning interest;cooperative learning can give play to students' subjectivity;and inquiry learning may cultivate students' ability to solve problems.Fourthly, teachers should carry out multiple evaluations, including multiple evaluation methods, specific evaluation content and various evaluation subjects. Finally, students should improve their subjective initiative in mathematics class engagement. They should increase their awareness of engagement and strengthen their sense of responsibility in mathematics class engagement.
