The core function of assignments is to help students consolidate knowledge,enhance thinking,and thus form core competencies.Since the new curriculum reform,a large number of studies have shown that blind problem solving,mechanical training,ignoring the cultivation of thinking ability,homework deviates from teaching objectives,can not meet the needs of students’ development,and students’ homework time and workload problems are prominent.Controlling the total amount,reduce the burden and improve the quality,focus on cultivating students,and promote development,with the reform all aimed at the homework design stage.However,at present,some school homework lacks supervision,low quality teaching AIDS flood the market,school-based homework is still to be developed,and students use different kinds of homework.One of the reasons for this situation lies in the lack of theoretical guidance in job design,especially the role of job in cognitive processing has not been clarified.Knowledge acquisition needs to go through the stages of declarative,procedural and automatic.The declarative and procedural stages can mainly be completed in the classroom,but the process of developing from procedural to automatic stage can only be processed internally with the help of materials.This study introduces this theory into the design of chemistry homework automation,focusing on solving the problem of precise promotion of homework,and discussing the topic of "how to design chemistry homework that promotes the automation of chemistry knowledge".This paper mainly studies the following questions:(1)how is systematic knowledge processed to achieve automation?(2)What factors should be considered in homework design to promote knowledge automation?(3)How to develop chemistry homework based on the principle of knowledge automation?To address these research questions,this study employs literature review,Delphi method,quasi-experimental method,and interview method.The specific process is:(1)review cognitive neuroscience and psychology experiments related to cognition,based on constructivism,humanism and other educational ideas,combined with the ACT-R 5.0model,to form the principle that subject knowledge develops from declarative to automated.(2)Based on the systematic procedural knowledge cognition development process and the development history of homework design,key points that high-quality written chemistry homework should focus on are proposed.(3)With the goal of achieving automated knowledge processing,a comprehensive homework design is carried out based on specific learning situations,taking the oxidation-reduction reaction as an example,and modified according to expert opinions.The emphasis is on designing variable production structures to promote students’ all-round activation of production structures in their mental models.(4)Quasi-experimental data is collected from experimental and control groups,and students’ abilities are assessed based on the item response theory.Based on the information obtained from student interviews,the developed homework is evaluated and reflected upon,forming a homework design strategy.The study found that(1)there exists a mental model in the brain,which is composed of production structures and can be described in the form of propositional networks.After repeated practice,systematic knowledge develops from declarative to automated,exhibiting more flexible and efficient structure invocation.(2)In the practice process,the more frequently a certain production structure is extracted,the higher the probability that it will be used to solve problems in the subsequent problem-solving process.Homework design can consider using production structures that students can call upon to assist in the development of their abilities.(3)Homework with complex production structures has a promoting effect on the processing of procedural knowledge for students who are good at it,while simple production structures should be used when students are not familiar with the related knowledge.(4)Considering students’ brain development and the need for knowledge consolidation,it is recommended that homework design incorporate production structures,integrate scenarios,increase homework time limits,and implement homework stratification.Teachers can build students’ mental models through carefully designed practice projects and develop computer-adaptive question banks to provide appropriate practice for students with different ability levels.
