The main teaching content of physical education and health education for primary school students(grades 1-2)focuses on health education, basic motor skills, interdisciplinary themes, etc.Coarse movements are the key to developing their basic motor skills. Therefore, how to emphasize the learning of coarse movements in physical education classes should be an important part of physical exercise.Due to the incomplete evaluation of the physical health level of adolescents, especially the evaluation of basic motor skills,we often overlook the evaluation of gross movements. The gross motor development test can effectively screen children with delayed motor development and also have a certain screening effect on children with cognitive biases.Generally speaking, the age of 3-10 is an important period for the development of gross movements.Ball games are beneficial for the development of gross movements, especially for fun ball games, which are beneficial for the development of physical coordination, agility, speed, endurance, and other qualities. However, there is clearly a limited amount of research on this topic both domestically and internationally. This study combines the teaching content of the "Curriculum Standards for Physical Education and Health in Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)" and takes 8-9 year old children as the experimental subjects.Starting from the comprehensive development of students’ physical and mental health, based on the project design of gross action development, ball games(small basketball, small football, gas volleyball, soft softball)are used to intervene and explore the impact of ball games on the gross action skills of 8-9 year old children,Intended to promote the development of gross motor skills in children aged8-9 and improve their motor abilities; To lay a solid foundation for the learning of future specialized sports skills. Thus providing suggestions for physical education classroom teaching practice. This research adopts the methods of literature review, expert interview, questionnaire, experiment and mathematical statistics to take the second grade students of Chengdu Paulownia Primary School(Tianfu Campus)as the experimental objects. There are 82 students in the experimental group(43 boys and 39 girls)and 81 students in the control group(45 boys and 36 girls). Both groups of students have no ball game foundation and the same physical quality. The experimental group was taught ball games, while the control group was taught regular physical education courses. The teaching time was 12 weeks, with 5 classes per week and each class lasting 30 minutes. The experimental process was taught by the same teacher. Before and after the experiment, the same teacher developed the test scale using coarse movements(The TGMD-2 scale has two dimensions: one dimension is the body movement ability test, which includes six movements: running, standing long jump, single legged jump, cross jump, forward slide, and side slide;the other dimension is the object control ability test, which includes six movements: hitting the ball in place, receiving, kicking, hitting the fixed ball, overhand throwing, and ground rolling. There are a total of 12 test items, and the scoring standards are shown in Appendix 1)Test and score the development level of students’ gross movements,And SPSS software was used to compare the differences between the data before and after the experiment, and the results are as follows:(1)Comparative results of differences in scores of gross motor development tests before the experiment:There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in terms of body movement ability, object control ability, and total skill scores(P>0.05).(2)Comparative results of differences in scores of gross motor development tests after the experiment:Comparison of total scores of body movement ability, object control ability, and gross motor skills between experimental and control groupsThe results showed a significant difference(P<0.01),and the experimental group was superior to the control group.(3)Comparative results of differences in scores of gross motor development tests before and after the experiment:In the experimental group, all items of displacement motor skills were significantly improved(P<0.01),while object control skills were significantly improved except for kicking and fixing ball items,as well as the total score of other items and skills(P<0.01).In the control group, except for the significant improvement of body movement ability in running and forward stepping, and the significant improvement of object control skills in groundball(P<0.05),there was no significant improvement in the remaining items and the total score of displacement, object control movement skills, and skills(P>0.05).Conclusion: Ball game teaching can promote the development of 8-9 year old children’s body displacement ability, object control ability, and gross motor skills; There are gender differences in the development of gross movements among children aged 8-9 years;Ball games play a very important guiding role in the teaching of basic motor skills for primary school students in grades 1-2.
