| As the initial stage of students’ learning,primary school’s study habits and thinking ability play a fundamental role in future learning.Students at this stage have the characteristics of being active,inattentive,and weak in self-control.In the face of difficult mathematics knowledge,some students have learning problems such as lack of interest,insufficient concentration,and low learning efficiency.Learning engagement is a prerequisite for improving students’ learning quality,which directly affects the effectiveness of teaching activities.To improve the effect of mathematics teaching,how to promote students’ investment in mathematics learning has become a widely concerned issue.There are differences in the performance of students’ learning engagement in different disciplines.Many scholars at home and abroad have studied the connotation,significance value and causal variables of learning engagement,but few have studied students’ learning engagement in mathematics.Therefore,it is of theoretical and practical significance to analyze the connotation of mathematics learning engagement and investigate the present situation of primary school students’ mathematics learning engagement.Based on the theory of learning quality,social cognitive theory and selfdeterminism,this research studies the present situation of primary school students’ engagement in mathematics learning.By summarizing and sorting out the literature,this paper combs the connotation of mathematics learning investment and its research and development status.Go deep into primary school mathematics classroom,observe students’ performance in mathematics classroom,and revise the questionnaire of primary school students’ mathematics learning engagement combined with previous research and observation results.438 students from Y primary school in C city were selected as the research object,and the present situation of students’ engagement in mathematics learning was understood by issuing questionnaires.According to the survey results,some students were interviewed to further understand the reasons for students’ non-investment problems.Combined with classroom observation results and cause analysis,this paper puts forward relevant countermeasures to improve primary school students’ engagement in mathematics learning according to the actual situation.The research draws the following conclusions: The overall level of mathematics learning engagement of Y primary school students in C city is high,and there is no obvious difference in gender variables,but there is significant difference in grade variables.The mathematics learning engagement of sixth-grade students is obviously higher than that of fifth-grade students.In addition,the survey found that students are not involved in the process of mathematics learning,including being easily distracted in mathematics class;There are negative learning emotions such as nervousness and boredom;Cognitive dependence on teacher arrangement;Low frequency of active interaction with teachers and classmates in the classroom,etc.The reasons for the above problems are the characteristics of students’ physical and mental development,the unreasonable setting of teachers’ teaching links,the unreasonable creation of scenes,the influence of class learning atmosphere,parents’ excessive concern about grades and so on.In view of the above conclusions,this study puts forward some suggestions to improve students’ mathematics learning engagement: in all dimensions,teachers are advised to construct reasonable teaching procedures and strict class management to improve students’ classroom concentration;Enhance the interest of teaching situation,provide positive feedback,control the length of extracurricular study by home-school cooperation,and establish a multi-evaluation system to make students have positive emotional experience;Teaching mathematics learning strategies and methods,setting up teaching scenarios with thinking space,and improving students’ ability of independent thinking and learning;Create opportunities for dialogue between teachers and students and cooperation between students,and enhance students’ social participation in learning.In the process of growing up,we should pay attention to the adaptation education of grade increase and do an excellent job in cultivating and guiding study habits;Parents need to pay more attention to and accompany their children’s study,create a good family atmosphere,and give play to their positive educational role.Overall improve students’ mathematics learning engagement,make students have more positive learning performance and improve students’ learning quality. |
