Student engagement in maths has always been the point that the society focus on recently. New courses’ improvement has been nearly ten years,but there are still some examples of students who get high scores in maths in fact have little interest in maths or do not take part in the subject.This paper starts with pactical conditions,through questionnaire research and data analyzing with Excel correlation fuction,and analyzes the current students’ engagement in maths in junior middle schools.After combining and concluding the data,the researcher finds the following results:1、Students’ engagement conditions in maths in junior middle SchoolsThe students in junior middle schools don’t paticipate in lifing their hands in classes actively,especially the girls.The boys do not often get ready for the maths classes.Most of the students have little partipation after school.They are not willing to turn to their teachers or classmates for help in maths.And they don’t look for or buy books about maths study for further study for themselves.The boys have little time in maths study after classes.On emotions,students in junior middle schools have little interest in maths,especially the boys.On the learning ways,the students’ engagement prefers to the logical thinking and understanding,especially the boys.However, the habit of introspection on cognition does not come to exist in the students which becomes very serious in the research,especially the girls.2、The relation between the three engagement and the scoresThe following things are related with the students’ scores:the logical cognition and habit of introspection concentrating on the classes and further study after classes for behavioral engagement and interest and pursuit for success.The uncomfortable and bored emotion does not help the scores. Above of all,these things mean more for the boys.But the learning engagement in classes,the time for maths after school,the cognition on surface and feeling bored have little relation with students’scores.3、The deciding parts for students’engagementThe teachers’ valuation,the surrounding of classroom,including learning environment and deciplines of the classes,the setting of their houses and themslves are the deciding parts for students’ engagement.This paper discusses with four examples on the four parts.
