| OBJECTIVE: To study the influence of mid-foot wrapping on basketball fans’ running,jumping,balancing ability and ankle proprioception,to explore the strength of mid-foot wrapping that is beneficial to basketball,and to provide the upgrade of basketball shoe performance.METHODS: Twenty-two basketball players were selected to complete multi-directional running around the pole,three-meter sharp stop and jump,one-footed balanced stance and ankle proprioception tests under four conditions: mid-foot no wrap(NS),low stress wrap(LS),medium stress wrap(MS)and high stress wrap(HS).An infrared timer was used to record the time to complete the multi-directional pole running.The VICON infrared motion capture system,ATMI 3-D dynamometer and Noraxon surface EMG were used to record the kinematics,ground reaction force and surface EMG data of the major muscles(anterior tibialis,lateral gastrocnemius,medial gastrocnemius and hallux valgus)of the lower extremity in the three-meter jump.In the unipedal balance stance test,balance stance time,ground reaction force and surface EMG of the above muscles were collected,and finally ankle position sense was recorded with a homemade foot and ankle proprioception meter,and the above results were statistically processed using one-way repeated measures ANOVA.Results: The performance of HS multi-directional running around the pole was significantly better than that of NS(P < 0.05).LS maintained balance with one foot on the soft pad for a longer time(P < 0.05),and the dynamic stability coefficient in the anteriorposterior direction was smaller when standing with one foot and eyes closed under HS(P <0.05).During the cushioning phase of the emergency stop and jump: the peak moment of the knee joint was significantly greater in the LS condition than in the NS(P < 0.05);during the stirrup extension phase: the angular velocity of the ankle joint was significantly greater in the HS condition than in the NS(P < 0.05),the coactivation value of the muscles was significantly greater in the MS condition than in the NS(P < 0.05),and the peak moment,peak power and work done in the knee and ankle joints were significantly greater in the condition with wrapping than in the that of NS(P < 0.05).Also,there was no significant difference in ankle position perception difference in the condition with wrapping compared to that without wrapping(P > 0.05).Conclusion: High pressure package can improve the explosive power of the lower limbs,running speed and dynamic stability in the front and back direction,medium pressure package can improve muscle coordination,low pressure package can improve the knee stability and single-footed standing balance ability during the emergency stop and jump buffer phase.Basketball shoe research and development can consider the mid-foot package design,basketball fans need to combine their own situation to choose the right package strength. |
