The current era is dominated by a knowledge-based economy,where technology and the economy gradually integrate.International competition has also evolved into a battle between high-tech and innovation.Science and technology slowly surpass the two traditional capital and labor production factors,becoming the core driving force for promoting economic development.From a macro perspective,the integration of science,technology,and economy is mainly reflected in the coordination of economic policies and science and technology policies of various countries and regions,as well as the coordination of economic development strategies and science and technology development strategies;From a micro perspective,it mainly reflects in the mutual integration and promotion between organizations in the financial and technological fields.As a critical component of the national innovation system,the scientific and technological innovation system in universities plays an increasingly important role in technical and economic integration.However,as China continues to increase innovation investment and accelerate the transformation of economic development patterns,the scientific and technological innovation system in universities is not only facing various external challenges from both international and domestic sources but also facing many internal problems from universities.Therefore,the driving effect of university scientific and technological innovation on economic development and the supporting capacity of the regional economy for university scientific and technological innovation urgently need in-depth research.The research on the coupling and coordination relationship between the two has met practical needs and has essential practical significance.The main research content of this article includes: First,using literature analysis methods to clarify the concepts of university scientific and technological innovation,regional economic development,and coupling coordination,and briefly comb the relevant theories involved in the follow-up research process;Secondly,based on the evaluation index system,a comprehensive evaluation index of university scientific and technological innovation capacity and regional economic development level is calculated,and the coupling coordination degree model is used to calculate the coupling coordination between university scientific and technological innovation and regional economic development,evaluate its overall characteristics and regional characteristics.Then,the Dagum Gini coefficient method and kernel density estimation method are used to analyze its regional differences and reveal its distribution dynamics;Next,it examines the spatial correlation of the degree of coupling coordination between university scientific and technological innovation and regional economic development,explores the impact of external factors on the level of coupling and coordination,analyzes its spatial spillover effects,and explores its convergence trend using a convergence model;Finally,it proposes an optimized path to promote the coordinated development of university scientific and technological innovation and regional economy.Research findings: 1)The degree of coupling coordination between universities scientific and technological innovation and regional economic development across the country and in the eastern,central,western,and northeastern regions is steadily improving,but the result of each area is highly uneven.The performance of the east part has always been far ahead,with a spatial gradient structure characterized by "high in the east and low in the west";2)The relative differences between the country and the eastern,central,western,and northeast regions have all decreased to varying degrees,and the phenomenon of uneven development has gradually slowed down.Intergroup differences are the primary source of overall differences.In addition,the evolution trend of absolute and relative differences is inconsistent,and the absolute differences between the country and in the eastern,western,and northeast regions are expanding;Moreover,the dynamic evolution characteristics of the coupling coordination degree among various areas vary greatly.No significant differentiation trend exists between the whole country and the eastern region.In contrast,the gradient characteristics in the central region are apparent,and the polarization phenomenon between the western and northeastern areas gradually weakens and tends to become one pole.3)The coupling coordination degree of various regions has prominent spatial agglomeration characteristics.Most provinces are located in the low-concentration areas,while high-concentration provinces are mainly concentrated in the eastern region.The spatial pattern has significant path dependence and spatial pattern locking characteristics;The impact of university knowledge spillover,talent aggregation,university research orientation,government support,research investment intensity,industrial structure upgrading,and urbanization rate on the coupling coordination level of university scientific and technological innovation and regional economic development has significant heterogeneity.4)There is a degree of coupling coordination between university scientific and technological innovation and regional economic development across the country and in the eastern,central,and western regions σ convergence,there is an absolute degree β convergence and conditions βconvergence trend of coupling coordination between university scientific and technological innovation and regional economic development across the country and in the eastern,central,western,and northeast regions.In addition,factors such as university knowledge spillover,talent aggregation,university research orientation,government support,research investment intensity,advanced industrial structure,and urbanization rate can,to some extent,promote the convergence of the coupling coordination between university scientific and technological innovation and regional economic developmentFinally,based on the above research conclusions,following relevant national policies and the law of coordinated development of university scientific and technological innovation and regional economy,the optimized path for promoting coordinated development of university science and technology innovation and regional economy is proposed based on regional characteristics and influencing factors,providing quantitative support for the in-depth implementation of the innovation-driven economic development strategy.
