As a special social group,adolescents in single-parent families often face problems such as family economic difficulties,absence of non supporting parents,improper parenting methods by supporting parents,insufficient care and care,social discrimination,and self discrimination.These negative factors associated with single-parent families are likely to make adolescents in single-parent families to fall into difficulties such as academic difficulties,interpersonal barriers,social maladjustment,and mental health crises.The client of this article,as adolescents in single-parent families,is also deeply affected by the negative factors mentioned above,mainly facing academic difficulties.After fully understanding the personal and family situation of the client,cognitive behavioral therapy was chosen for intervention based on the chaotic cognition of the client towards academic learning,and taking into account factors such as the uncooperative attitude of the non-custodial parent,the difficulty in converting the concepts of older generations,the influence of mothers as custodial parent,as well as the client’s flexible cognitive conversion,acute emotional perception,and willingness to understand relevant theoretical skills of social work.In order to change the cognition of the client,five topics have been discussed,namely,cognitive behavior education,self cognitive examination and negative cognitive recognition,objective self-evaluation,rational cognitive attribution and the need for love,and correct recognition of the relationship between academic learning and personal future.Through career planning,strengthening academic positive feedback,and practicing relaxation techniques,we can promote behavioral change among our clients.Cognitive behavioral therapy intervention has helped the client enhance her sense of academic efficacy and learning motivation,stimulate her personal potential,comply with the concept of social work helping others and self-help,and obtain positive feedback from the client and others.Finally,it discusses how the negative factors associated with single-parent families affect adolescents’ academic learning.After reflecting on the intervention difficulties,according to the intervention process in this article,a valuable cognitive behavioral therapy intervention model for adolescents with academic difficulties in single-parent families is formed.
