A Case Study Of Social Work Intervention In Community Integration Of The Elderly Living Alone

Along with the continuous development of modern society,the family structure has changed,people gradually tend to be miniaturization,the phenomenon of the elderly living together with their children become more and more,which has given rise to more empty nest(alone),older adults found that the lack of family care,old people who live alone not only in economy,spirit and daily life care cannot be satisfied,Moreover,some elderly people will be self-enclosed and self-isolated,falling into the predicament of being unable to integrate into the community.The intervention of case work can help the elderly living alone to get out of the predicament,improve community relations,strengthen community communication,participate in and integrate into the community,and improve the happiness index.Therefore,Y,an elderly person living alone,was selected as the service object in this paper.Through semi-structured interview,participatory observation and other methods,it was learned that his difficulties in community integration were psychological integration difficulties,behavioral integration difficulties,and community role integration difficulties.The reasons for the difficulties were personal circumstances,weakened social support network,and closed self.The client hopes to improve neighborhood and community relations,strengthen community communication and engage in community participation through the specific needs of the service.According to the needs of clients,the author made service plans,adopted case work method,applied case work skills such as empathy,sincerity,listening and respect,and carried out four stages of service under the guidance of social support and advantage perspective theory.The first stage was to improve neighborhood and community relations and strengthen psychological integration.The second stage guides community communication and promotes behavioral integration;The third stage encourages community participation and realizes role integration;The fourth stage consolidated the changes of the client,dealt with the feelings of separation,and gradually helped the elderly Y who lived alone to integrate into the community,get life and spiritual care,and improve the quality of life in his later years.At the end of the service,the practical process and results were evaluated,and the reflection and summary were made,and suggestions were put forward,hoping to provide reference for the relevant research of case work involving the integration of the elderly living alone in the community.
