The continuous development of media technology has increased the speed of knowledge production and dissemination,and also posed new challenges to the independent learning of college students.One example is the video platform bilibili.Initially,the main function of the bilibili platform was to entertain,but with the continuous development of the knowledge area,it has gradually become the first choice position for young people’s learning.While bringing a large amount of knowledge,how to effectively select knowledge to enhance the effectiveness of independent learning is also a reality that young people must face.In this context,analyzing the independent learning of college students in the new media field based on the bilibili platform not only identifies the current dilemmas of college students’ independent learning in the new media field,but also reflects the impact of media development on individuals from the perspective of knowledge production and acceptance in the new field.Thus,it can further make people consider the transformative nature of new media on social development.In this thesis,undergraduate students from C college in Jiangxi Province were selected as the research subjects,and 18 students were interviewed using the interview method.The research found that,as a representative of the new media field,the bilibili platform not only provides a huge amount of learning resources for college students’ independent learning.But also the internal structure of the platform brings a strong interactivity,which provides a space for students to freely choose for their independent learning and also provides opportunities to participate in discussions.The new media field brings opportunities for college students’ independent learning.However,it also brings a series of new challenges.This study finds that the dilemmas that college students face in independent learning in the new media field are mainly difficulties in effectively screening knowledge,problems in integrating and utilizing information,and the ineffectiveness of independent learning.This study argues that the causes of the dilemmas can be explored from three aspects.The immaturity of the internal structure of the bilibili platform,the limitations of the traditional education model,and the lack of individual media literacy among college students.In response to the dilemmas of independent learning encountered by college students in the new media field,this thesis proposes some countermeasures from three levels:optimization of bilibili platform management,adjustment of society and schools,and improvement of college students themselves.Firstly,it has to optimize the management techniques of the bilibili platform.It cultivates specialized talents through a professional structure to build on its strengths and avoid its weaknesses,which highlights the advantages that the bilibili platform brings to college students’ independent learning.Secondly,it should update the concept of education.Raise the society’s awareness of independent learning.Play the correct guiding role of the teacher group to cultivate the literacy of college students’ adaptability to the new media field.Thirdly,it should vigorously improve the media literacy of individual college students and break through the dilemmas brought by the information cocoon.Use the various advantageous resources brought by the new media field effectively.Keeping oneself in sync with social development through independent learning.
