BFR training is a relatively new training method. In order to improve the muscle strength of upper limb of students who is major in physical education, this study conducted an experimental study of BFR training and traditional strength training for students in the experimental group and comparing group respectively with the help of BFR instruments. In this way, whether BFR training can be used as one of the training methods of physical education to improve the muscle strength of upper limb can be explored and its effect can be analyzed. What’s more, new training ideas to improve the muscle strength of upper limb can be found as well.In this study, students majoring in social sports guidance and management in Grade2021 of Chengdu Sports University were selected. All students showed no significant difference in basic physical conditions such as height, weight and age,and no one left or felt ill during the experiment. These 28 students were randomly divided into the experimental group(BFR training)and the comparing group(traditional strength training). There were 14 people in both groups for 10 weeks to get their upper limb strength trainings. Results: 1.In two indexes of the maximum muscle strength of upper limb, compared with the experiment before, both groups had improved significantly(bench press and strength press P values were 0.00).The bench press of the experimental group and the comparing group was increased by 17.85% and 17.59% respectively and there was no significant difference between the groups(P>0.05).The strength push of experimental group and comparing group was increased by 23.93% and 20.37%respectively and there was no significant difference between groups(P>0.05).2.In the two indexes of the muscle strength of upper limb and endurance, the two groups were significantly improved, compared with the experiment before(P values of push-ups and pull-ups were 0.00).The push-ups of the experimental group and the comparing group were increased by 41.26% and 30.67% respectively. However, there were significant differences between the groups(P<0.05).Besides,the pull-ups of the experimental group and the comparing group was increased by 81.03% and 77.20%respectively but there were significant differences between the groups as well(P<0.05).3.In the two indexes of upper limb explosive power, both groups had significantly improved, compared with the experiment before(15s high-fiving push-ups and sitting posture pushing solid ball with hands were both P values of 0.00).The 15 s high-fiving push-ups of the experimental group and the comparing group was increased by 38.19%and 24.46% respectively and there was no significant difference between groups(P>0.05).The sitting posture pushing solid ball with hands of the experimental group and the comparing group was increased by 10.94% and 8.53% respectively, and there was no significant difference between groups(P>0.05).Conclusions: 1.Under the specific conditions designed in this experiment,we can effectively improve the maximum muscle strength of upper limb, strength endurance and explosive power of college students whose majors are in physical education by both training methods.2.The improvement of the maximum muscle strength of upper limb and explosive power of BFR training is similar to that of traditional strength training, and does not show a greater advantage, but the increase of these two qualities in the experimental group is greater than that of the comparing group. And in maximum strength training, the pressure group adopts lower load intensity to achieve similar or even better training effect like the traditional strength training. Therefore,it is effective to use BFR training as one of safe training methods to improve the maximum muscle strength and explosive power of male college students’ upper limbs.3.Exhaustive BFR training can significantly improve the body strength and endurance during free hand training.Besides, there is a significant effect in BFR training to improve the upper limb strength endurance of male college students, which can be adapted as a new training means or a "supplementary" training after strength training to improve the upper limb strength endurance level of the trainers.
