In the digital era, fraud forms are networked, informational, and diversified, and more and more people are becoming fraud victims. The incidence of fraud continues to increase, and it is urgent to establish a fraud prevention mechanism and solve the fraud problem.Although many scholars have mentioned the strong relationship between social support networks and fraud victimization and suggested that some people have lower social support when they experience fraud, few studies have conducted empirical analysis on the relationship between the two.In addition, social work has unique professional advantages in providing professional services to vulnerable groups and building social support networks for them, coupled with the lack of a financial social work intervention perspective in the field of fraud prevention. Therefore, based on CHFS2015 data, this study analyzes the relationship between social support networks and fraud victimization based on a review of relevant literature, which divides social support networks into three dimensions: formal social support from the community, formal social support from the government, and informal social support. This paper also specifically analyzes the impact of various social support contents on two different stages of fraud exposure and fraud loss, and also discusses the path of social work intervention in fraud victimization prevention and related suggestions from the perspective of financial social work.Through the empirical analysis of the data, the following results were obtained:(1)The higher the formal social support from the community in community policing support, the lower the likelihood of fraud exposure and fraud loss occurring.(2)All three dimensions of formal social support from the government have a significant negative effect on fraud exposure, with two dimensions, medical care and education level, having a significant negative effect on fraud loss.(3)The informal social support network of family co-resident dimension negatively influenced fraud exposure, and local blood relatives positively influenced fraud exposure, but neither dimension was significantly related to whether or not they suffered fraud loss.Based on the research findings, this paper proposes recommendations for social work intervention in fraud victimization prevention: first, use social work techniques to strengthen individuals’ formal social support networks, integrate community and social resources, and form a multi-linkage mechanism.Second, the importance of community prevention should be emphasized, with emphasis on strengthening community security management and services for vulnerable people to improve individuals’ financial literacy. Finally, combining the direct and indirect intervention methods of social work,we take the community as the starting point of our work and establish a fraud prevention mechanism through financial social work and other means to effectively prevent fraud victimization.
