In recent years, the new unified language textbook for high school compiled by the Ministry of Education of China has been put into use,and from the content selection of the textbook, the proportion of ancient poems has increased. This change reflects that the national level attaches importance to the inheritance and development of excellent traditional culture and to the teaching of ancient poems as a carrier of excellent traditional culture. However,in the actual teaching process of ancient poetry on the front line, many long-standing problems have not been properly solved, resulting in poor teaching effects of ancient poetry, difficulties for students to understand and appreciate ancient poetry, and a lack of vitality in the classroom of ancient poetry, thus affecting the role of ancient poetry teaching in improving students’ core literacy and the inheritance and development of innovation of excellent traditional culture. It is necessary to improve the current situation of teaching ancient poems in high school and to make some useful explorations and attempts on the long-standing problems of teaching ancient poems in the current language teaching situation. On the other hand, the "General High School Language Curriculum Standards(Revised Edition 2020)" issued by the Ministry of Education has proposed for the first time a unit learning task group of "reading and communication across media",which aims to enable students to learn how to access and effectively use media in the information age through "reading across media".This task group aims to enable students to acquire and effectively use media information in the information age, broaden their horizons of language learning, optimize and enrich the language learning process, and enhance the effectiveness of language learning. In this context, experts and scholars in the field of language education and front-line teachers have conducted theoretical and practical explorations, but most of the research literature focuses on the implementation of "cross-media reading and communication" task groups, and very few studies have been conducted on the integration with the teaching of ancient poetry in high school. However, due to the lack of in-depth understanding of "cross-media",most of the teaching results do not meet expectations. The features and functions of transmedia are very important to cross the time and space limitations, bridge the gap between the ancient and the modern, let students get closer to ancient poems, and enhance the interest and effectiveness of ancient poetry learning.Based on the current situation of high school ancient poetry teaching classrooms, this paper combines cross-media and ancient poetry teaching based on the "context-making" function of cross-media,incorporates the relevant theories of contextual teaching, explores the teaching of ancient poetry in the context of cross-media,and explores some practical methods of cross-media application. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this paper is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1,which explains the concepts of transmedia and context and the theoretical basis of this study,is divided into two sections. The first section explains the concepts of transmedia, the "context-making" function of transmedia and context. The second section explains the theoretical basis of this study, including constructivist theory, transmedia narrative theory, contextualism and receptive aesthetics theory, which provide theoretical support for the study. In Chapter 2,the ideal appeal of cross-media application in teaching ancient poetry in high school is analyzed in the light of existing literature and reflections, and is divided into two sections. The first section explains the general principles of cross-media application, which should follow the principles of starting from shallow to deep and progressing step by step, the principles of informed and emotional and rational, and the principles of active participation and moderate guidance. The second section discusses the characteristics and needs of teaching ancient poetry in high school, illustrating from both textbooks and college entrance exams that ancient poetry in textbooks is increasingly valued and that the features of ancient poetry exams in college entrance exams require a broader reserve of knowledge and emotional experience. In the third chapter, classroom observation is used as the main method to observe, study and analyze the front-line classrooms of high school ancient poetry teaching, from which the current status of cross-media application in ancient poetry teaching is summarized, and the beneficial experiences and shortcomings of cross-media application as well as the attribution factors are discussed. The case studies in this paper are the author’s real experiences and observations during the internship period, and two cases of "Short Songs" and "Dwelling in the Garden of Return" are selected for study. In Chapter 4,the author’s thinking is combined with a large body of literature to construct a model for the application of transmedia in teaching ancient poetry, which is divided into three sections to illustrate each of the three levels of classroom teaching, extracurricular reading, and post-class assignments. The first section focuses on classroom teaching of ancient poetry, mainly on the teacher’s use of transmedia to shape the context to enhance students’ interest, trace the poem’s imagery, and explore the poem’s emotion. The second section focuses on students’ cross-media reading outside the classroom, which enriches the "ancient poetry context" in students’ minds through video and audio reading to improve the effectiveness of learning ancient poetry. The third section focuses on post-class assignments with cross-media re-creation assignments, where students can break through the constraints of different media to present their thinking and enrich their knowledge and emotional experience of ancient poetry. The innovations of this paper are: first, this study goes beyond the current research on transmedia and ancient poetry teaching, and analyzes the concept of transmedia with a new perspective, combining the two.Second, this study points out the "context-making" function of transmedia, and then clarifies that the role of transmedia in teaching ancient poetry comes from the "context" it creates, which is a more scientific and reasonable mechanism.Third, this study attempts to solve the long-standing problem of students’ understanding and appreciation of ancient poetry due to the time, space, and psychological barriers and distances by using transmedia to bring students closer to the ancient poet and the ancient poetry,to cross the distance between time and space,to bridge the ancient and modern worlds,to improve the effectiveness of ancient poetry learning, and to inspire students to learn ancient poetry and excellent traditional culture.
