Since the concept of "core literacy of disciplines" has been clearly put forward in the history curriculum standards,the cultivation of core competencies in history has been paid more attention by academics and front-line history teachers.The change in the concept of history teaching will inevitably lead to that of history teaching practice.History is lively and vivid,and history classroom teaching should also be rich in content and diverse in form.History classroom teaching should fully consider the physical and mental characteristics of students at the age and improve its attractiveness to them,so that they can boost the efficiency of history learning with a positive attitude and,therefore,cultivate students’ core literacy in history in a better way.In the stage of China’s secondary education,students need to grasp a large number of historical facts,however,students tend to have a stronger interest in historical stories.Thus,teachers should apply historical stories skillfully to allow students to experience historical events and gain historical knowledge in order to cultivate students’ core literacy in history during teaching.Nevertheless,not every secondary school history teacher is capable enough to transform historical facts into vivid historical stories.If History Were a Group of cats is a series of comic books and adapted animation films that tell ancient histories of China,focusing on the key characters in history to unfold historical stories and describe the historical process.If History Were a Group of cats contains a large number of stories of historical characters and historical resources,which is of great value to the history teaching of junior high school.This paper expounds the overview and features of If History Were a Group of cats,discusses its value and feasibility for history teaching in junior high school,generalizes and summarizes the principles it applies in junior high school history teaching,with the instance Three Kingdoms,the sixteenth lesson of the current compulsory education textbook Chinese History,and lists the problems that should be paid attention to,in order to enrich the theoretical reserve,improve the scientific & research ability,and contribute a small amount to the theoretical research and practice of using animation in the history teaching of junior high school.
