With the continuous improvement of he popularity of the Internet,the group learning and lifestyle of middle school students have undergone profound changes.Internet-based online reading has high flexibility,convenience,openness,and rich reading resources,and is becoming a widely recognized reading way for middle school students,which has greatly changed the reading behavior of middle school students.However,what effect that online reading has on teenagers reading behavior is not clear,so it is necessary to study the status quo of teenagers’ online reading and the influence mechanism of online reading on reading behavior.This study selected nearly 1000 students from six grades from six schools in Liling City,Hunan Province to send out questionnaires.Through the online reading motivation scale,reading self-efficacy scale and online reading behavior scale,the students’ online reading motivation,reading self variables and online reading behavior were investigated,The results show that:(1)In terms of gender,parents’ educational background and grade,there are significant differences in the level of middle school students’ reading behavior;(2)There is an obvious correlation between middle school students’ online reading motivation and reading self-efficacy.Reading interest,information acquisition and other factors have a positive predictive effect on middle school students’ reading self-efficacy;(3)There is an obvious correlation between middle school students’ reading self-efficacy and online reading behavior.The former has a positive predictive effect on online reading behavior in the six dimensions of ability,control,benefit,self-confidence,planning and anti-interference;(4)In the correlation between online reading motivation and online reading behavior,reading self-efficacy plays a significant role,plays a mediating role,and plays a partial mediating role.Based on this,we can judge that online reading motivation will positively affect reading self-efficacy and further positively affect online reading behavior.To sum up: there is a pairwise correlation between middle school students’ online reading motivation,reading self-efficacy and online reading behavior.Reading self-efficacy plays an intermediary role in middle school students’ online reading motivation and online reading behavior.These findings suggest that the standardized use of network resources by middle school students is conducive to improving students’ network reading motivation,and on this basis,further strengthen students’ reading self-efficacy,improve students’ reading comprehension ability,and have positive significance for students to develop good reading habits.
