To promote the development of the social work and of social workers,This study, from the perspective of self-determination theory, using the data of the 2019 Chinese Social Workers dynamic Survey,in combination with the previous studies,Propose three hypotheses separately include H1 that the motivation(intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation)has a significant positive effect on the mental health(emotional burnout, psychological depression,depersonalization),H2 that the intrinsic motivation(autonomy, competency,Relatedness)has a mediating role in the impact of the extrinsic motivation(salary satisfaction, job approval)on the mental health,H3 that when the intrinsic motivation is insufficient, the extrinsic motivation can alleviate the damage of the mental health to a certain extent. And this paper looked for other 10 factors affecting the mental health of social workers including gender, marriage, work duration and etc were included as control variables. The main body part of this paper is divided into three aspects.Firstly in terms of current situation analysis, this article explores the overall status of each variable through descriptive statistical analysis and the specific distribution of social worker motivation in other dependent and control variables through regression analysis;Secondly in the aspect of hypothesis testing, regression analysis, intermediary effect analysis and differential analysis were used to test three the hypothesis, and this paper made comprehensive analysis of the test results;Thirdly in social factor analysis, this article mainly explored the social reasons for current situation analysis and the hypothesis testing by referring to other literature. After the analysis, this paper draws the following main conclusions:1.In terms of current situation analysis, the mental health problems of social workers in China were mainly manifested as emotional burnout and psychological depression, and the satisfaction degree of competence and relatedness needs of social workers in China was somewhat insufficient.2.In terms of hypothesis testing, the three hypotheses are tested to be overall correct, but they present different characteristics in specific dimensions. The results of the regression analysis showed that the motivations that mainly affected emotional burnout and psychological depression were the competence and the relatedness in the intrinsic motivation, and the salary satisfaction and the job approval.Depersonalization is only significantly different from the degree of autonomy and the degree of depersonalization and autonomy of social workers was better. The results of the mediation effect analysis show that,on the one hand, the competence and the relatedness have a mediating role in the effects of the salary satisfaction and the job approval on emotional burnout and psychological depression, partly intermediary in the effects of the salary satisfaction and completely intermediary in the effects of job approval. On the other hand, the autonomy only plays an intermediary role in the impact of the salary satisfaction and the job approval on depersonalization, and both were completely intermediary effects. The results of the differential analysis indicate that only the salary satisfaction could differ in the psychological depression among social workers when the overall internal motivation was insufficient. Finally, this paper combined with the research conclusion, from the five aspects of social workers, social work institutions, social support networks, social work professionals, and the whole society, tried to put forward relevant suggestions to help social workers better deal with their own mental health problems, help people around social workers better help social workers, and help social work professionals develop better.
