With the continuous promotion of national education reform,the combination of education and teaching with practice is increasingly valued.The Biology Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)also emphasizes that "the teaching process emphasizes practice" and pays attention to the practical experience of students in the learning process.Biology clubs are based on the knowledge of biology subjects,and students organize themselves according to their own will or under the guidance of teachers,which can provide opportunities for students to participate in practical activities.There are fewer studies on rural middle school biology clubs.Therefore,this paper takes the rural junior high school as the research object,survey of 14 rural junior high school biology teachers and 3321 students in a county of Guizhou Province,to understand the current situation of biology clubs in rural junior high schools.Exploring how to construct biology clubs in rural junior high schools by combining the practice of biology clubs,and summarize the role of constructing biology clubs in rural junior high schools,to expand the scope of research in biology clubs,enrich the research related to biology clubs in rural junior high schools,and guide the construction of rural junior high school biology clubs.The main findings are as follows:(1)The current situation of biology clubs in rural junior high schools.A survey of 10 rural junior high schools in a certain county of Guizhou showed that none of them had a biology club.However,more than half of the teachers and students in rural junior high schools showed high enthusiasm for biology clubs,which reflects the necessity of constructing biology clubs in rural junior high schools.(2)Construction of biology clubs in rural junior high schools.Based on the survey results,the specific construction process of rural junior high school biology clubs includes: determining the structure of the biology club,formulating the management system of the biology club,applying for the construction of the biology club,promoting the biology club,and recruiting members;Based on the above construction process,a 24 person biology club was established in the practical school.Many problems exist in the construction of rural biology club through practical analysis,the objective problems include lack of institutional support and financial security、conflicting activity schedules、limited school hardware conditions;The personal problems include students’ strong arbitrariness,difficulty in adhering,and limited teacher-student abilities.So,to promote the construction of biology clubs in rural junior high schools,the school level should improve the club system 、 provide funding for activities,strengthen campus culture construction、 and create an atmosphere for activities.The teacher level needs to design club activities according to local conditions,strengthen communication and deal with problems flexibly,enhance learning and improve their own quality,strengthen management and ensure normal activities,and motivate students and enhance their self-confidence.(3)Design of biology club activities in rural junior high schools.The design of biology club activities in rural junior high schools is based on the principles of scientificity,operability,safety,and expansion;the ideas of activity design include: determining the theme of the activity,analyzing the basis for selecting the topic,analyzing the conditions for carrying out the activity,clarifying the purpose and meaning of the activity,clarifying the arrangement of the activity,carrying out the activity,and reflecting on the activity;The topics of activities should be selected based on "student-centered","rural-based" and "supporting biology teaching".Combined with the situation of the practice school,the final activities were carried out in the categories of experimental operation,creative production,practical research and science lecture activities.(4)The role of junior high school biology clubs in rural areas.The before-and-after changes in the biology subject core literacy in the control and experimental groups were analyzed.It was found that biology clubs helped rural junior high school students improve their biology subject core literacy,in particular,it has a significant role in enhancing students’ literacy in the application of biology principles,life science practice,spirit of exploration,sense of cooperation,and ecological awareness.At the same time,rural junior high school biology clubs can facilitate biology experimental teaching,establish good teacher-student relationships,and facilitate the development of biology teaching resources.
