"A nation cannot stand without defense,and a people without soldiers will be uneasy." National defense is the lifeline of the nation and an important guarantee for national security."Strengthening national defense education and enhancing the people’s awareness of national defense" is the strategic support for realizing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,and bears on the Party’s major plan and the country’s major affairs.As the reserve army for the construction of national defense,strengthening the dissemination of national defense education among middle school students plays a positive role in stimulating the national spirit,caring for and supporting the cause of national defense,and promoting the construction of socialist spiritual civilization.China has always attached importance to national defense education for young people,paying particular attention to the national defense education of the secondary school student population.Coordinating the national defense education for secondary school students from the national strategic level,the Party Central Committee,the State Council,and relevant ministries and commissions have strengthened the organizational leadership of defense education for secondary school students by revising the national defense law and introducing various defense laws and regulations.They have clarified the rights and responsibilities of secondary school students’ national defense education subjects,standardized the content of secondary school students’ national defense education,proposed innovative ways and methods of secondary school students’ national defense education,and guaranteed the overall effectiveness of secondary school students’ national defense education.Strengthening national defense education for secondary school students is of far-reaching significance to the construction of our country’s reserve talents,and provides a basic guarantee for the construction of national defense reserve talents.At the same time,national defense education is also an important carrier for gathering national spirit and inheriting patriotic education,and is a spiritual driving force for a strong country and a strong army.In the context of the general security concept,some new phenomena have emerged in national defense education for secondary school students.It is necessary to face up to the differences between the national defense education practices of secondary school students in China and those of major countries and regions,analyze the current situation of their communication subjects’ authority and responsibility,organizational communication,mass communication,and scene communication,and comprehensively learn from the typical practices of national defense education communication in major countries and regions to help the integrated construction of national defense education communication for secondary school students in China.With the accelerated arrival of the digital media era,the traditional national defense education dissemination methods have become outdated.At present,the overall lack of national defense education communication in China,the unclear focus of national defense education communication,and the shortage of practical effects,present the characteristics of "short duration,shallow content,and scattered methods",lagging far behind the modernization of national defense education.It is urgent to clarify the main contradictions in the dissemination of national defense education for secondary school students,and to propose countermeasures to address the core problems.This paper takes the communication of national defense education for middle school students in Anhui province as a case study,reviews domestic and foreign literature on national defense education,and uses content analysis,questionnaire survey,participant observation and in-depth interview to try to clarify the current situation and predicament of the communication construction of national defense education for middle school students.The study found that in the current communication of national defense education,the role of digital media is not prominent,the mode of communication is single,the content is seriously homogenized,and the characteristics and interest are insufficient,which cannot meet the growing media needs of teenagers.The trend is to innovate the paths and methods of national defense education dissemination for secondary school students in the new situation.We should focus on the characteristics of high plasticity when secondary school students are in the formation of values,base on the research results,organize the core issues,and propose the construction paths with the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Strengthening the Military in the new era.Using digital media resources,updating the communication concept,exploring the law of communication,improving the communication system,innovating the communication path,strengthening the communication practice,and building a new pattern of national defense education communication that is in line with the needs of the new era.The task of disseminating national defense education in the new era is enormous and significant.Only through the multi-pronged efforts of the school,the state and the society can we promote the transformation of the results of national defense education communication,so that national defense education can be internalized in the heart,solidified in the system,externalized in the form and actualized in the action,and promote the development of national defense education communication in all aspects and from many angles.
